Well obvious investment is obvious, Its not that im arguing, but the simple fact, guidelines are not fallowed leads to illness or death, not just that but placing a UTH inside tank, you are 100% neglecting the instructions not just on general husbandry but the overall item itself, Your selling a 1.5 year old snake, thats only 400grams? is this a midget ball python possibly? because that weight is well to say unhealthy for a year and half.

The ball has been seen by a vet recently and she is 100% healthy. So again, I do not take kindly to you now saying my Ball python is unhealthy when 400grams(+-) is healthy. Especially since she just finished fasting for a few months.
Please stop posting on this thread if your goal is to further insult my reptile and my classified Ad.
I have taken every precaution to ensure the UTH does not short circuit, does not over heat, and does not go into physical contact with my snake.

Your 100% right, mistakes, malfunctions, and errors never happen. Having a heat pad inside, is 10x worse then if it was outside, and 100x worse since not connected to thermostat, Well enjoy your snake while you have it. Electrical+water go hand in hand with disasters. Its the sad, blunt truth, and your not coming to realization with a 2-3 day study is NOTHING for a life cycle of an animal or a product at that.

The cardboard mat that the snake lays on has been on top of the Heat mat for 3 days now, and the temperature
remains at 90 degrees.
The snake now only roams around to switch from her cool hide, to her warm hide, to her basking spot, then back to the cool hide
She hasn't hissed since I asked about it, and I've handled her multiple times.
I am posting this to prove that a Thermostat is not a "100% required life or death" item.
However, I believe improper placement of the mat can of-course lead to burns.
How can you say the lay will eventually heat up to 118 degrees if it hasn't gone over 90 degrees in over 72 hours?
I understand your point from an "on paper" point of view, but from a first hand point of view, Do I really, truly, need to be spending $50 on a thermostat if my home-tests imply one is not needed?
Just wanted to say that things do go wrong with equipment from time to time. We are mainly trying to give advice that avoids problems in the future - similar to the "no tape in the enclosure" rule.
I used to have a saved thread with links to a number of cases where a hot spot developed and got hot enough to melt the plastic let alone burn the snake. It's not so much what is happening in your enclosure now but what we know can happen when things go wrong.
I hope that explains why it keeps getting mentioned if not making up for the tone in which it was expressed.

This is the damage to carpet that an unregulated Uth did in 2 days

Re: Is My Ball Python OK?
Also if you can't afford a thermostat what happens when you need an emergency vet visit that can cost hundreds? Anything can happen and do you really want to risk your snakes life just to prove a point?

OP didn't say they couldn't afford one, just that he/she can't justify the expense. If you (as others have) have some insight that might offer some justification for the expense, cool. But it was never stated that lack of money is the reason for not using a thermostat.

IF not lack of money there should be NO justification in the animals SAFTEY at all.... You took this animal and its your job to provide its best life as possible, a vet visit is More costly then a 50$ thermostat, and im only saying this because my neighbor did not listen SAME subject but he actually had UTH outside like a normal person... and his hot spot looked 92 degrees BUT when everything was moved it was sitting at 148 on the glass and snake has severe burn, after paying for vet he was short funds and i purchased him a reptil thermostat from zoomed, around 78 dollars, months and months later his snake his now happy and 100% perfect looking, "Saying why should i invest in 50$ thermostat" is like buying a car and saying forget the saftey it drove good for the 15mins, nothing will happen down the road". a Sever lack of commitment for this animals life. I do not say anything is bad about current, temps, humidty, setup BUT there WILL be an issue 1 with no thermostat, and 2 with UTH inside the eclosure "it wont get wet" well im sorry if your sitting at 60+humidty its already wet.
That is all and im sorry to be harsh, But when your snake gets injured and we see a thread "Snake burnt will he be ok" you will understand, it happens to all of us, we all do make errors in housing but we learn and we learn from everyone here with there amazing input. When you have more then 1-2 people saying Thermostat, YES OP id suggest getting one, were not telling you to spend 300$ on herpstat again, just a small 30-40$ one off amazon/big apple herp is all thats needed for small collection
