Awh, Blink, you're not so bad yourself. ;)
Angela, here's a pic of my foot pre-touchup:

I have the same on both feet, after the touchup they're much more symmetrical, I cleaned up some ink I lost while healing and made the shell darker. It's now a royal rather than a turquoise blue. They're Egyptian scarab beetles, a symbol of protection and rebirth.

Sadly, I saw it in person :(
I actually went to Stuyvesant High School.
Which is really close to the Twin Towers.

    Those beetles look awesome.
Even pre-touchup they look really good.
Females with tattoos turn me on :P

Also, you forgot to put the h at the beginning of the link :P

I've tried to describe it to non-inked people and the best I can come up with is that it feels like a drag and a burn.
That's a pretty good analogy. That's what it kind of felt for me as well, but more like a cat dragging it's nail across my back slowly back and forth in the same place (lots of fill on mine)....I only have one and it's on my left shoulder blade. I would love to get another but haven't decided what/where yet as, like most here, it is a very personal experience for me and it needs to mean something...so, I'll get another when I figure out what I want/need.

I'm the same way. I keep coming up with these ideas that on someone else would look phenomenal (i.e. the molotov cocktail with a heart in the bottle and the banner reading "flameproof", designed as a chest tattoo) but just wouldn't work for me and my lifestyle. I've been aching for a Skinny Puppy-inspired piece for years, but I'm forcing myself to wait for it a few more years until I'm no longer allowed to dress like a rivethead and see if I still desperately want it so much then. ;)

Rex, what kind of aftercare were you using on it? That's often the reason most tats don't heal up well. It's not uncommon to lose some ink while healing; most artists anticipate that you'll be coming in afterward for a touchup and often include that in the price.

Skinny Puppy! Haven't heard anyone mention them for years...now that I think about it, what happened to those people I used to hang out w/that listened to them and bands such as them?? Guess a lot changes when you have a child....thanks for bringing back some really great memories!!

I think I sat in on that chat...how much were you using? When I got my first pieces done I drowned them in ointment, and lost a lot of ink too.I didn't learn until later it's best to only apply enough to barely feel a little greasiness when you touch the skin. With something like your arm that has a lot of rubbing contact, I'd keep it wrapped up with a breathable bandage after the touchup until it starts to scab and "toughen up".
    Good luck.

No problem, Sophie. ;) I'm a HUGE SP fan, they're what got me into industrial music in the first place. I'm not the rabid fan (no pun intended) I used to be, but they still mean a lot to me. I'm not a fan of band logo tattoos, but I love some of the artwork on the inside of the Vivisect and Too Dark Park albums. I'm still thinking about adapting one of the pieces into a tattoo with the script "Be mine Sister Salvation" (from KMFDM's "Juke Joint Jezebel") but the really prime locations are either already tattooed or I'll need to hold off on for a few years.
Argh! So many tattoos....so little skin.....
