Got a thick layer of tar off his head :D Was so thick and and hard to peel off I was legitimately panicked that I was taking his skin off. And lo and behold, a little spotted head!

aww you saved the lil boxxie. Good on ya =]
I've been to Dr. Askew a bunch over the years and he's very through and such a nice guy.
Another closeish herp vet is Dr. Mitchell, this side of Mobile, who is also very good. Just a lil fyi for next time something happens with a herp.

How do his eyes look? Can you see them fully yet or still working around them?

    I've been waiting for this!
Five days, three brillo pads, one tooth brush, and half a jumbo bottle of dawn later:

A picture together before the release, and finally:

Returned into the "wild" of the backyard from whence he came. <3 Good lucky, Icarus AKA Icky the Box Turtle, I'm sure I'll see you stealing cat food once again.

Very happy to have been able to help, thank you so much everyone for the kind words of support and advice. :) Yes, I did see his eyes fully open and alert, he thankfully escaped this whole thing with no burns or injuries, and is OFFICIALLY the cleanest turtle on the block!
