The extreme ringer must interact with the Pied for a patternless white snake. It would be hard to believe the Pied also had the Fire gene for Super Fires as well.

I believe Corey is probably correct. the dam being an unknown het albino, not common but it does happen. it stretches credulity that she was an unknown double het albino pied. it actually reminds me a bit of Brandon Osborne's urban camo animals. he too had some wild results with het pied ringers, and my personal guess would be whatever makes Dave's ringer trait heritable also interacts with the pied gene, even if it's only coming from one parent. at this poit, I am most interested to find out whether or not the albino ringer is a champagne albino. if not, I can't even speculate about the possibilities. regardless of the ultimate outcome, the only thing that's certain is that the extreme ringer remains a really :cens0r: interesting animal.

I'll start off with the sad news, both white snakes came 90% out of their eggs and died.

Several people had suggested that my extreme ringer may be a pied so I wanted to prove it one way or another this year. As far as I knew my pied male and the extreme ringer weren't het for anything so you could imagine my surprise when the first head to pop out was albino.

After the second albino popped it's head out I figured it had to be more then a fluke. I also recalled that I bred this pied male to an albino and produce three small clutches of double het albino pieds. My memory told me there were three clutches totaling 13 babies. If the pied was het albino how could I have missed 13 times? It didn't make sense. I then contacted Brock who produced the original extreme ringer and he told me that the "normal" female he used to produce her was a poss. het albino. I then went into my records as my first double het clutch was 5 years ago so maybe my memory was off. I used this male pied for the first clutch but he stopped breeding so I used another pied male a few times as so maybe the other pied male fathered the first clutch of 5. The other two clutches that were fathered by this pied were 4 eggs each but I only produced 7 babies. So missing on 7 is not as much of a long shot as missing on 13. I now believe both the pied and extreme ringer are het albino.

The one thing I did prove was that the extreme ringer can't be a pied or else I wouldn't of hatched a normal looking albino. She could be het pied but that would be a stretch but still possible.

Some have suggested that the albino with the white body may be an albino champagne extreme ringer but she doesn't look like a champagne to me. I'll see what I think after she sheds. If she isn't a champagne I would be pretty excited as this would be the first time I hatched a non-champagne extreme ringer.

After communicating with some other breeders and trying to figure out this clutch, I feel that the pied gene reacted with the extreme ringer "gene" to create the two white snakes. I'm sure there are other explanations but I feel that this makes the most sense; at least to me. It's hard to know for sure with one small clutch but those are my thoughts after talking with others. I could be wrong and I'm totally open to other ideas and theories.

Oh rot, maybe it's allelic with the champagne gene and triggered the fatal gene associated with super champs. :(
