I like Trent Reznor's 2nd version (the one post Johnny Cash) but the video that goes along with Cash's version is very moving, and cuts to the very core. This is my favorite version.

Did a tiny little part of you 'HOPE' your lyrics would offend her? If that's the case, then yes. It's wrong.

Actually no, I just needed to relieve myself of stress. I didn't sing the songs for her or even show them to her, she read them on her own then confronted me.

In that case, I'd say it's her problem not yours.

I think that if the material is scaring her... as apposed to her not just wanting to feel offended then its a different situation. When I say scare I also mean that she could be afraid of you hurting yourself. If you are doing it to punish someone else I am not sure it is really art anymore and people do use the threat of hurting themselves to punish others.
Also just keep in mind... if you think there might be a chance you could some day be friends.. this is a great way to ruin it. Where did she read your songs?

We still live together because neither of us have anywhere else to go plus we have a child together. So the songs were written in a notebook and it was either left on the counter or kitchen table. Either way it was closed so she had to of gone through it.
