Getting a tattoo in the future a good or bad thing?

The thing with the tattoos I want to get, aren't just about the pictures. Each picture represents something, and it's basically my life story.

And thanks for the input guys! Nobody better steal my Koi idea! Haha.

And thats the way it should be. There is a reason I am 23 and still dont have one.

Miswrote that a bit, I plan on getting a piece by piece add on until I hit a certain age. I don't want to dive in head first with everything misrepresented.

Haha. Thank you. I quite like your fish. Very prominant. I've yet to find a fish design I'm satisfied with enough to get it tattooed. Maybe one day. I'm picky ;)

Hence the reason I always tell people to find something they want as a tattoo, stick copies of it everywhere and look at it multiple times a day for at least a year. By that time, you know if you're 100% for it or if you want to modify it. Works well. I waited 10 years to get mine, and it's my only one (yep, one tattoo, whole shoulder, haha).

Each tattoo doesn't even have to mean something literally either. I think a lot of people get that confused. My dragon isn't about 'strength' or 'history'. It's in relation to my right shoulder, which is my dominant hand. I do art, mainly fantasy. I thrived off of fantasy art as a kid and wanted to grow up to be like Todd Lockwood. Todd Lockwood designed the D&D dragons. And this dragon is from a D&D book. So in a very roundabout way, it's my: "Don't give up on your dreams" tattoo, haha.

Best way to work on a back piece is to always consider that you might want to add to it. If you keep it flowing and keep it logical, then you'll be able to add to it throughout your life.

For anything serious, definitely take your time. It taught me a lot of patience by waiting out getting my tattoo, unlike so many people I meet that want to just rush. Enjoy the journey :gj:

I just get things that make me smile, hence a bunch of Star Wars tattoos lol!

I have been planning and planning and gone through so many drawings lol and still I will have the artist redo the drawing because I know I will nit pick at it if its MY art on me lol
Everyone else seems to like my stuff, but I just would go crazy thinking "that eye isnt perfect" or "that line shouldnt be right there" if it was mine lol

Yea it doesnt literally have to be this or that, and you should see my Uncle, covered head to toe in art and some of his are as he puts it "just cuz they look cool" lol if you like it, go for it, but make sure you reaaaally like it.

I dont think I will get to much on my back, because I like to look at my art and wouldnt want to not be able to see it, most people can twist or turn in the mirror and see it but because of my car accident thats like impossible and would hurt..
That sad face is the only thing I am getting on the back of me, and only because it pretty much has to be.

Speaking of rushing, how many 13-17 year old kids have you seen running around covered in that garage ink with weed leaves and dumb sayings on them lol :rofl: I feel bad for them trying to get jobs will all that all over their hands and arms..

I don't mean all that all tattoos should have a literal meaning or such, I was just saying that I wanted mine too.

And then one thing I'm worried about is my skin color haha. I don't mean it in a racial way, I'm just hoping that at color would be able to show up. Not that it's a really big deal, it's just an option I would love to have.

What color are you? Like super dark? I would say youd be more limited in your color choices than a fairer skinned person, but as long as you keep it out of the sun and dont get darker it shouldnt be to big of a deal.

I know that my mother is somewhat dark, darker than a regular white person, and she has a back piece and she is very careful on how much sun she lets get to it, and its a very old piece about 10+ years and its still just as bright as the day she got it.
So just take care of it and pick colors that work with your skin color and you should be good! :)

Well, it depends on the part of my body, I'm a brownish color on my exposed skin, and a yellowish color on my unexposed skin. So I'm hoping I don't get any darker, but, I don't know if my yellowish skin would work..

So I think my best bet would be getting a tattoo done in the winter...and I'm not much of an outdoors person, I only go running, and that's either in the morning or evening..
