    Congrats! :)
Most of the issues with substrateless would be due to too much air flow. You need a full seal to keep the humidity high--every tiny gap has to be closed. I tape over all the holes in my hovabators when I do substrateless incubation.

Substrate incubation is a little more forgiving of air flow, since the substrate holds the humidity where it touches the eggs. Still, I enjoy seeing nice new hatchlings pop out without little pieces of vermiculite stuck in their heat pits, lol.

This is absolutley true. I lost an 11 egg clutch doing substrateless, they just dried out and died, and I could not make sense of it. How can you possibly get more humidity than having the eggs in a box over 2 inches of water ? When I got my second clutch I tried it again, but the second time around I put a hygrometer in the box. Imagine my shock when the humidity never went over 30% :O!

Took the lid off the box, wrapped it in four layers of plastic wrap {press and seal and I don't mix} and boom humidity off the chart and healthy babies 61 days later.

One of the normals head was popping out too :D

But I'm too tired ( and lazy  ) to walk back down two sets of stairs to take pics. I'll get them and post them up tomorrow. Yay!!
