My girlfriend and I are like throwing kerosene on a spark. She had a ball python who passed away before we got together, and I had a normal ball python. She decided she was ready for another and one day brought home a little corn snake! After that we bought two normal girls with the plans of breeding them with the male normal I already had. From there we've added on a Brazilian Rainbow Boa (my "corn snake"), Albino, het Albino, Pastel, added two Savannah monitors, and currently looking at adding three to five more snakes this week! (Repticon!)

While we do have snakes that are "her's" and "mine" we have equal say in future breeding plans as well as additions to our collection. While she doesn't understand my want to hoard every yellow morph I can find and I don't understand her want for things that could eat me in my sleep, it works out really well. I balance out her "act now, think later" attitude, and she helps me not think everything to death. She does the things I don't want to do and I do the things she doesn't want to do.

She is truly awesome and I can't imagine either of us would have started or even thought about getting into breeding ball pythons without the other. Not sure what I would do without her when the crickets need to be caught out of the Savannah cage and I'm not sure what she would do without me pointing out all the flaws in her "well thought out plans". Damn she is lucky to have me! :P

My fiancé loves our ball pythons!! She is also a big fan of most of my lizards but I'm still trying to get her to like colubrids. I think it's because they are faster and not as relaxed as the bps... Haha!

Shes also very supportive of me getting more and has been doing her homework on generics and breeding =P I definitely caught a keeper haha!

Now if I can just convince her that we need to breed our own rodents...

    Send in your two cents!

I do not have a supportive other half.
I have a *tolerant* other half.

After going into detail with him over what the vet had to say about one of my pythons yesterday that is very sick, he said "why don't you just give up and cut your losses". As in let-it-die-and-get-another. _NOT_ the kind of thing I want to hear.

Re: Supportive better half? Who has it and who doesn't?
I have wanted a snake sine I was little and my mom would never let me have one. So, finally living on my own with no possibility of moving back in I asked my semi-snake phobic boyfriend if I can get a pair. He was a little reluctant at first, but once we got our pair sent in, his mindset changed entirely. It was sweet enough that he would let me get them even though they made him a little nervous, but it has turned to total support! Suddenly he's reading everything he can, pulling flyers for reptile shows, and he has completely supported my investing in more snakes, threw money in on a couple and even built my rack system. He's becoming just as snake obsessed as I am! He probably spends more time on the WOBP morph list than I do. And my favorite little angel has just come down with RI and he took us out immediatley and bought supplies to rig a fogger so we can try to clear it up at home. I really am the luckiest girl ever!

My wife is extremely supportive and I can have as many snakes as I would like, although I handle all of the cleaning, feeding, ect. She will hold them at times when I have them out but she isn't overly interested in them, which is ok, at least she is supportive. I let her handle the date of our dogs and two cats which is fine with me ( I love dogs but am not a huge fan of cats lol)

My Fiance is pretty supportive most times as long as I'm the one taking care of them, lol. He enjoys the animals though. Currently I only have a Leopard Gecko but he loves watching me feed her and likes holding her. He used to have a Bearded Dragon and wants another so I'm definitely looking forwards to that! His best friend has 2 Beardies, a Corn Snake, a Ball Python, a Kenyan Sand Boa, a King Snake, and he used to have a Red-tailed Boa but she passed away because she got some infection or something that was making it so she wasn't growing properly and such and antibiotics and stuff didn't help. She was the sweetest little thing. :( SO, it's not like Mike hasn't been around Reptiles before, lol.
I'm going to be getting my first snake, a BP, once I get back from vacation in a few weeks and he likes them. I'm also hoping to get a baby Crestie soon after that and he thinks they're cute too!
When we were at the Reptile Pet Store the other day they had a monitor and he said he'd want one of them if we had the room! That surprised me but I thought was cool. :D
I wouldn't say he is enthusiastic about my Reptiles and he wouldn't go out and get one of his own unless he planned it methodically forever but he enjoys the one I have and I'm sure he'll enjoy the ones we get in the future. :)
