Fallibility is one of our defining characteristics as humans, just some make larger mistakes than others and rebound faster too. I think some of us could learn a bit of compassion(not necessarily for the deceased but perhaps towards those for whom she will be missed). Now I realize from reading this thread that some of you are very passionate about drug use and that's awesome, I'm 100% anti drug too. I'm also convinced this thread is not the proper venue for a "flaming Whitney Houston" extravaganza.
My condolences to those who are saddened by the passing of Whitney Houston.
You are insinuating that some of us have no compassion. I really don't think that is the case. My point is I have plenty of compassion for people. I feel for the mother with two kids who gets killed by a drunk driver or two little boys who were murdered and blow up by there father. But I will not lose any sleep over a drug abusing celebrity with to much time and money on there hands. I have compassion for people fighting cancer or soldiers fighting and dying in a foreign land. What we need is more compassion for the common person not the over privileged.

Did you read my post? I didn't insinuate anything, I plain said it. I didn't point fingers or list names because I wasn't paying attention to who was saying what. I was just a bit disturbed by SOME of the comments. I suggested if we can't have compassion for the person who died we might show a bit towards those who will miss them. If you're lacking compassion maybe empathy for those who might have been close to the deceased. If someone you cared about passed from a possible drug overdose and you started a RIP thread for them how would you feel if people started making some of the comments we're seeing here? I've lost friends and family to differing causes, some out of their control, others of their own devices. I don't miss the ones who brought it upon themselves any less than the ones who had no control over the circumstances of their death.

Just read my first post and it seems I was insinuating. Not that the bashers were totally void of compassion though like you said but merely lacking a bit in this circumstance. Anyhow, it's past my bedtime so I'll let ya'll continue as you see fit. Be excellent to each other.

Ok so we have dedicated 6 pages on arguing about whitney houston. Theres bo need for arguments if we know the facts. The facts are she was a drug addict. I mean come on she drowned in a damn bath tub people. She has been a drug addict for the better part of 20 years. I have no sympathy at all for someone who destroys their life to the point it kills them. I do have compasion for those that make mistakes and turn it around to learn from them and better themselves. We are all human. We all make mistakes but come on she was a crackhead who also ate enough xanax every night to kill an elephant. I feel sorry for her kids. After all she was someones mother and someones daughter and parents shouldnt be burrying their kids. Drugs are bad mmkay

couldn't have said it any better myself. its sad, but the truth hurts.. she did it to herself, and I'm sure she had all the money and the resources in the world to get herself clean, just couldn't realize... RIP though, she will be missed by many, just not me.. (can't believe I'm reading/replying to this on a reptile forum lmao)
as for steve irwin, with all due respect, he shouldent have died from a friggen stingray.. i think even Steve himself would have been happier to get eaten by a 14 foot croc.. would have at least been more fitting and made more sense. croc hunter ... killed by..............................................stringray:confused: ... RIP steve, you were a crazy dude:bow:

does anyone find it ironic that she died the day before the grammies? i do, she was washed up couldn't make a comeback, figured she would go out with tributes and the grammies, since she probably wouldn't ever win one again... and yes i have compassion.. but common everybody is mourning over her self destruction and demise.... next week or next month it will be the next star that used all their money to destroy themselves, they should just be like all the "healthy" famous people that donate their money to charities or adopt kids from Haiti...then maybe do all their drugs and kill themselves AFTER they are out of the spotlight lol

Re: RIP Whitney Houston...
Wow - there really are some judgemental people here. ANY loss of life is sad.
One of my co-workers is dying of lung cancer - the doctors literally gave her 5-7 days last Friday. She is the most generous, loving, selfless person I've ever known, and when she passes, it will be a loss to a lot of us who love her. She was a smoker. Would those of you who judge Whitney Houston say that you have no sympathy for my friend and her family because she "brought it on herself"?
I'm sorry - money does NOT make someone happy. If it does, that makes someone very shallow to say that money is enough to make you a happy person. Does it relieve a lot of financial stress? Yes it does. But does it bring happiness into your life? No, it does not.
None of us have had the same life experience that Whitney Houston did. To stand in judgement of her and her ultimate demise is pathetic at best. All of you judging her and her manner of death, you have led a pristine life that allows you to be so judgemental? None of you have made poor choices in your life that you regret? None of you have experienced clinical depression?
She left behind a mother, a daughter, family members who love her. And that's tragic. Just as the death of our hero's in the military is tragic, just as the death of my beloved friend is going to be tragic.
I'm shocked by the lack of compassion in this thread and the vitriol I've read. Seriously.

Just because you are allowed to speak, doesn't mean you always should. To everyone who has been bashing the dead, have a little respect.
