Re: Would you buy an ASF eater?
I have in the past, and have had no problems switching them to rats. However, now that i have a few boas in my collection its rats only.
Re: Would you buy an ASF eater?
I would. I'm just starting to breed ASFs mostly because I have a mouser that I'm going to try on them and also for hatchlings that are being stubborn
Re: Would you buy an ASF eater?
I feed mice, rats, and ASF's to all of my snakes. I raise them all. I don't have any problems with my snakes switching from one to another. I have a couple sporadic feeders that will take ASF's or mice every week, but maybe only a rat or two a month. I don't have any problems buying a asf eater because I have a nice size colony.
I start all of my hatchlings on mice or asf's because they are more developed than a rat the same size and the snake gets more nutrition from them:) I switch over to rats when my guys are around 125-200 grams. I have never had a baby that did not switch to rats.
Re: Would you buy an ASF eater?
I would. I breed mice, rats, and asf. the hatchlings that I sell will feed on mice or rats. the reason is not everyone breeds their feeders and it can be hard to find asf for sale. which will makes bp hatchlings harder to sell. I will feed hatchlings that I am holding back if they feed better on them. I never had a problem switching a female bp after she just had a clutch of eggs. They will eat almost anything. I also have snakes that eat mice or rats and if you throw an asf in, they won't touch it. remove it and throw in what they feed on and they feed. so switching one of them is just as hard as switching one that feeds on asf. once on asf they will eat nothing else is a myth. slow growing is true, but they don't eat no where near as much as the white lab mice I have do. they breed like crazy if you don't let the temps get too cold. this is my experience, yours might be different.
