Thanks, I appreciate the views of people who don't handle their snakes for a week as well, but was really just curious if there are others who don't.

I don't plan on holding her for the next couple days because feeding time is coming up soon for her.(Then if she eats, I'll leave her alone for 48hrs and after that I can start holding her a little more)
I'm not bringing her out to my computer desk so I can look at her either. (probably best too, I think looking at her makes me want to hold her more) But she's finally settled down into one of her hides, so I'm leaving her in my bedroom. It's low traffic and quiet too, so hopefully that will help keep her a little more calm and less stressed.

We got three BPs from an expo and without knowing better handled them immediately. We ended up having a really hard time getting two of them to eat. Tried everything and had no idea why they weren't eating. A few Google searches later and...whoops should have left them alone. Knowing what I know now I'd respect the leave the snake alone rule because if it would have helped them start eating and saved us and them some stress it'd be worth it.

Alright, thank you very much for the reply. I was looking for someone to say something like that. I guess that whether it's okay to handle the snakes ASAP does depend on the individual snake.
I'll leave my snake alone for the next few days to see if she will be settled down enough to eat in a couple days. :3

The reward is well worth it to wait, you will have a happy snake ready to eat. I put mine in the tub after holding him for 5 minutes and didn't mess with him for 6 days. remember to not handle the snake as well after you feed, I like to give mine 2 days to digest. Good luck on the feeding :)

Yes, I know to wait two days after feeding to hold.

And to babyknees, I don't have much else to do. XD (I've been hanging out on here since June though. XD)

I just got a new bumblebee on Aug 19 around 12 noon. The next day around 10pm, I fed him a fuzzy rat and he took it right away :) I think there is really no reason to wait that long especially for hatchlings and there is really only one way to find out if they are ok, get them to eat. This way the new owners get re-assured that the snake is fine. Of course, do not handle them after eating. At least for two days.

    Here is the feeding video.

The week is up! I held her earlier today to see how thick around she was and I fed her also!
She took two mouse hoppers(cutest things ever, but I was so happy when she ate)! I might try rat fuzzies. I need somewhere to find FT rats. Right now I'll be feeding her live. She had two live mice. I want to get her on rats ASAP, so next feeding day unless I find somewhere that has FT Rat fuzzies I'll see if I can get those for her. If not I'll just buy her a rat fuzzy from the petstore I got the hoppers from.

Whereas I haven't read all of this thread, I'll chime in.

Bought my snake on a Tuesday, left her alone until Friday when I had to move her back to 'permanent home' at my place. She was doing well and staying in her hide mostly so I decided to try and feed her on her usual day, Saturday. She fed quickly and was great and let me move her back to her terrarium after feeding.
I waited 2 or 3 days after feeding to handle her and when I did it was just for a little bit at a time because, being from a pet store, she was nervous. Every night lately (even after feeding yesterday) right around 10, she goes roaming around climbing on the sides and everything she can find.

So basically I think it all depends on the snake. Mine was always active even at the petstore so this is her norm, others are more shy and like to be in their hides even at night. :)

The waiting rule always seemed to be overkill to me. I've fed snakes the same night I brought them home from shows, or pulled them out of shipping boxes. I don't handle them a lot, but it won't hurt to take them out and check them out a bit. They also won't immediately projectile vomit if you take them out after eating...granted you can't take them out and run around your house with them, but I've taken them out the next morning after feeding, handled them a bit and put them back with no ill effects. They're not as delicate and dainty as they're made out to be...:D
