Pet store, no shame at all.
This seems kind of like the middle school argument of where you buy you clothes for school, walmart or macy's. Before I got a python I had no idea there were businesses and morphs or even that balls were in the slightest popular.
Re: Where did you purchase your first BP....breeder or pet store?
dang a poll I can't vote on since my first bp was a rescue ( actually first 3-5 were ) lol love getting them free.
Re: Where did you purchase your first BP....breeder or pet store?
Saw BPs for the first time at reptile expo..... Was facinated and got my first two (a breeding pair) from a reputable breeder. Luckily he does not stay too far from me and I was lucky enough to have bought a few from him since. Collection growing nicely and getting a few more from him this year just waiting for the hatching..... Over here in SA our seasons are a bit later than yours..... Can hardly wait.

I got my baby from a Petsmart (boo, usually) and he is in AMAZING condition. NO mites, NO skin problems, and a GREAT eater. I actually called the store to compliment the snake keeper for her know-how and care.
:)

Hmm, I thought I had already posted on this one. I guess I voted but didn't post :P
I bought my bp at a local non-chain pet store, and they said they got her from a local breeder. It's an alright shop, but their main business is dog grooming, and previous visits often left me disappointed with their reptile care (needless to say I don't go there anymore). Anyway, she was with her clutchmates, and from what they told me she had only been there for about 5 days or so, not really long enough for her condition to deteriorate. I admit it was somewhat of an impulse buy, as I had never seen a baby bp before and was absolutely smitten :D But I did make sure to go home and do some research first before I ran back to buy her.
So, even though I paid a lot more than I would've at an expo, I wouldn't change my decision for the world. She was probably only about a month old when I got her, she's now 2 1/2, and she's just the sweetest, most beautiful normal in my opinion haha ;) I did have a little trouble getting her to eat at first (probably because she was so tiny), but once she got the idea she was a garbage disposal, and she's never had any other health problems.
My next bp (either an albino or a mojave) is definitely going to be from a reputable breeder though. Every once and awhile you find a pet store that knows what it's doing, but for the most part it seems like basic reptile care and knowledge is horribly lacking.
