One concern, though... If we are all handing the packages over, and there are no questions asked, (which is how it should be) how do we know if we are doing the right thing? I really do want to know that we are operating within our limits. We are getting two different stories, and as of right now, I have to believe the UPS side. We all should be.
I think I will not comment any further on this, until I have a definate answer on my end.
I got a few "no" answers from some people from UPS I spoke to before shipping as well. It was actually from the local UPS store who said "UPS will not ship live snakes period". However once I explained everything, he actually helped me find two HUBS close to my house and even called them to verify everything for me. I'm sure it will get worked out. As jben said, any startup company will have a few snags. If you haven't heard from Debbie yet, follow up with her. I have sent her an email on a Sunday and she replied within 10 mins. Can't ask for better customer service than that!

They have a deal with UPS to get discounted shipping rates (I'm sure they get something out of that). They also have their own store that you can order your shipping supplies from. As was stated above, you don't need to pay to sign up, just register a credit card on the site.

Rumor has it that Reptile Express has suspended shipping snakes...E-mails should or should have gone out...
Someone put it well on another forum..."Wonder who flubbed it up now?"...

It is no rumor. It says directly on their homepage that they have temporarily suspended shipping snakes: http://www.reptilesexpress.com/

Just got the e-mail today too...
Valued Reptiles Express Members,
The success Reptiles Express has enjoyed these first few months has been fantastic -- THANK YOU! to all who have joined as members and are using our services!
We have been working hard with UPS to develop a business model that provides value and service to the reptile community, and overall things are going well. We have however had some issues that need to be resolved concerning the shipping of SNAKES.
While reptile enthusiasts think nothing of holding, handling, or transporting a harmless non-venomous snake, this is new territory for UPS personnel, and the idea is taking some time to be fully accepted.
Technically we DO have a "snake waiver" -- we CAN ship snakes. But in spite of that fact, there has been some resistance to accepting them at some of the UPS facilities. This has resulted in confusion, delays, etc, which is obviously not good for any of us - including the animals. In order to preserve our ability to ship snakes going forward it's important that we help UPS work through these issues as calmly and smoothly as possible.
In an effort to do this, effective immediately we are placing a temporary suspension on the shipping of snakes. This is a voluntary move on our part that we feel is in the best interest of us all, and it applies to SNAKES ONLY -- we ARE still shipping other reptiles.
Updates on this issue will be posted on www.reptilesexpress.com as things progress.
We thank you for your understanding, cooperation, and for your continued support as we work towards making Reptiles Express the best it can be for us all.
