Are these supplies enough for a 3 week BP?

Hey guys, back with another question

Should I buy a digital scale to weight my BP, and if so where would I get it close to me? (Home depot, walmart, canadian tire ect ect..)

Are there any special scales that need to be bought or will any scale that deals in grams work?

Im just curious because im reading in a few places that you should be feeding 15 - 20% of your snakes body weight each time you feed? is this true?

All I can say is shop around. Those place sound like pretty good bets. There's nothing special, just once again, everyone says digital. Think kitchen scale. The most I've ever heard of a ball python weighing is 5500g full, and they're extremely rare, so even half that (5lb here) is probably enough for years.

I always hear 10-15%, not 15-20%.

Okay, thank you very much! Ill just grab a cheapo scale that has digital display with grams as weight measurment.

Also, thank you for confirming the weight to feed, Ill try my best to do within 10 - 15% :)

I think it is a good idea.

You can probably a gram scale at walmart or target or something similar. You will want something that has a tare feature and goes up to about 5,000g.

10-15% of the snakes body right is a good rule for snakes under 1,000g.

Oh.. so what happens when they get over 1,000g? would I just switch to the "widest part of the snakes body = size of the rat"?

Once they get that big, a small rat weekly is fine. They do most of their growing in the first year and then it starts to slow down and their food intake decreases. If you feed 10-15% of their body weight for their entire lives, you will probably notice them taking long fasts because of the amount of food you are feeding.

Ah, that makes sense :) yeah I guess ill roll with that then, feed 10 - 15% until 1,000 grams then just give a small rat

I found mine at target for about $25. Check the kitchen section. The food weighing scales are pretty cheap.

Alright, ill check it out, hopefully theres a target near me that is in a reasonable distance. I know theres a costco near me but target im not sure

Hey guys. Today the Hydrofarm thermostat started to be shipped. which means it will arrive a max of 7 days after I get my BP

which isnt to bad, I can sacrific a lot of sleep (insomnia works out for the better here? :D) and just monitor temps night and day until it arrives

But my problem is, I have read a lot on this thermostat and it seems very good. but I wanted to know if It is a proportional thermostat or an on/off?

And if it is an on/off whats the difference?

Does the on/off mean that if you set it at lowest temp 90 and highest 100 that if it hits 100, it will turn off the UTH until it drops to 90 then turn it back on?

and if its proportional does that mean it just maintains constant temps?
