Would you eat a rodent?

LOL I think gator tastes like a mix between lamb and chicken. Mild like chicken but a tiny bit of sweet/gamey flavor like lamb. Gator is a little grisley but if cooked right it's awesome :)

Rabbit stew is AWESOME. I'm trying to remember what was in it... leeks and fennel I think?

I imagine mice would taste the same if they were kept on the same diet, it'd just be more work getting enough meat. Though I'm not sure mice fed on industrial rodent pellets would be so great.

i really, really think that if you were in a situation where you were starving, sooooooooooo hungry that the only thing you could THINK about, was finally getting some nourishment, if a rat ran by, i bet you would eat it. no matter WHO you are or WHAT you believe in. instinct (hunger) will always take over.

I'm very carnivorous, I'd try rat even if I wasn't starving. Although I'd prefer a fresh one and not f/t. ;)

I see alot of people saying they would not eat FT.What do you do with your food when you buy it? Some we eat that night the rest is frozen and thawed when you need it.AKA frozen thawed ;)

For some reason frozen whole rats are just not as appealing to eat as fresh ones :p lol doesn't mean I wouldn't eat one if that's all I had

Of course they would be cleaned before they were frozen :P.I would starve before i ate gutts :rolleyes:

Im sure if it came down to it, those people would eat F/T. I dont see a problem in it. Sure it may not taste as good as fresh, but as long as the internal organs have not been punctured the meat would not be tainted. You would just need to clean and gut it like any other animal. Now if you began to clean a thawed rodent and saw that organs were damaged (bladder or intestines especially) then I probably would not trust it.

I dont see why any internal organs would be damaged unless you did it yourself during the cleaning process though.

As for even having live rodents left due to not having enough rodent food? Most of us who breed these rodents buy our lab block in bulk bags. I always have at least 1 full bag and usually 2 or 3. My rodents would able to live and breed for quite some time before they would run out of food. Therefore making me more food in the event of a global disaster :rolleyes:

What were they like? The things I would have trouble with are spiders, scorpions, roaches, earthworms, and strangely enough squid or octopus. I just can't get past the tentacles.

I really don't see myself having a problem eating a rat, I've had squirrel and rabbit, venison, turtle, and frog. I even ate a raw fish when I was three. Fins, guts, scales and all. :D

If you have any culinary skill at all, you can make most anything taste good. Either that or season it so much you can't taste it. Emeril Lagasse used to say about certain sauces and so forth, " You could put that on a truck bumper and it would taste good." Same principal.
