No, what's really odd, well not really, is your willingness to jump to a conclusion based on a single photo and a single incident that you, if it was you in person, witnessed at some time in the past.
Your inability to grasp the fact that just because you don't know someone means nothing in regards to whether or not they can properly sex a snake.
It could be expelled fat. It could be any number of things. You don't see most of us who have more than 2 minutes experience jumping to conclusions and insisting that someone must have mis-sexed that snake because it looks like something you saw a female do one time.
This isn't exactly a mystery that has a time limit on solving it. A day or two isn't going to make any difference.

Wes, I understand that the snake was sexed by you and others and I was told it was a male. I believe that he is a male but it will not hurt to have him re-sexed again right?
cgator- I understand why you think what you do but i just don't see this snake being a female. I have faith in the breeder and the others who have sexed this animal and their abilities to do so.

Wow No Amir lives in southern Florida and second a proven breeder Wes Pollock (Wilomn here ) has sexed he snake. Also his best friend is one of the best breeders on the West coast so calm down skippy and watch the pretty text here you are in time out :D:D I Jest

You may very well have a hermaphroditic snake. If it in fact probes male, I think it may very well be both. It is not impossible, however, it may only be good as a breeder as a male and produce infertile eggs from here on out. If it is hermaphroditic, it would be interesting to see if it produces more of one sex than the other. Keep records of the offspring's genders.

Folks this snake sired at least five healthy clutches(dont know many females that have done that), as mentioned the sex is not in question but only what has come out of it. It does appear to be some kind of fatty deposit IMO.
Wes(wilomn) has been keeping snakes for longer than many of you have been alive so instead of arguing lets stick to the facts. Puss in snakes is hard and not usually clear so I dont think thats it, scar tissue on the other hand is soft and squishy and could also be a possibility. I had Dr. Stahl(reptile expert) teach/show me this and although I have felt scar tissue from the exterior(soft and squishy) of a snake I have never seen it so that could be another possibilty.

WCJ, I don't think at this point anyone doubts that he/she has sired clutches in the past. Please keep in mind I sent this thread to my ex-wife who is a vet (herp is her major course of study) and she said it is possible for the snake to be hermaphroditic and to be a viable sire). It is possible that you have one that is both. He/she may be able to do both, only breeding experiments will tell. But think, this is a very valuable snake if this is the case!!!

I really doubt this snake is both sexes. I have been doing a ton of searching online and I do not see anything about a snake being about to be both sexes.
what is your wifes source on this being true?

She graduated from UC Davis. She is my ex-wife but I will get the source from her. Luckily we are still good friends. Stay tuned.

If you really want to know what is going on here, give the substance to a vet to stick in formalin and submit to a pathologist for histology.
Intersex conditions in snakes would not surprise me, it happens all over the animal kingdom. However, I would love to know more about intersex snakes reproducing successfully. I would have thought, based on my knowledge of intersex mammals, that the condition would lead to infertility.
