I do want to share an edited for language version of what a friend wrote about this movie..
it is rather amusing.. whether you like it or not.. the review is hilarious.

2D -- we don't have an IMAX down here.

The CGI and visuals were stunning, probably the best I've ever seen....

The storyline sucked dead rhino behind...beyond dead rhino behind...a whole herd of dead rhinos with putrid dead behinds.
That had to be the dumbest, most derivative, most boring, most annoying plot and dialogue in a movie ever. The technology was idiotic and made no sense -- it truly was an insult to my intelligence. The characterization was also an insult to my intelligence and stupidly one dimensional beyond belief. Don't get me into the overdone "message" -- unless you want a rant.

I hope to one day see that sort of CGI work (although maybe not so much of it; it was spread on a bit thick) in an actual movie.
And if I ever see a blue cat-elf alien I'm afraid I'm going to try to beat it to death with a tire iron (seriously, those things SUPER ANNOYED (replaced bad word) me).
By the end I was starting to hope they'd make an Avatar 2...so the East India Trading Co. (er, the corporation) could come back with the regular military and kick the behinds(Bad word) out of the darn (bad word!!) blue catsmurfs. One word: napalm

Although I did have fun saying "win ga po" (together with appropriate hand signal) during the flick...oh, that and "tatonka" -- just because my behind was numb and I was bored silly by that point and wanted to slap Jake Sully.

I remember them all wearing masks at the end as well.
If any were not, remember that you can hold your breath for a while, and there were a number of situations where people were depicted without masks, who then put them on after a short time outdoors.

As for the Na'vi--either you love blue cat people, or you do not. ^_^

I haven't read through the entire thread, but I thought it was a good movie; however, a great piece of "art". What I mean is that the story was so-so at best. But the visuals and the ground that was broken I think is amazing. The world and the people were completely believable as far as looking real (not necessarily believable as characters themselves).

This movie is the closest by far to CG looking like real life. The world of Pandora is breathtaking. If you do see it, definitely see it in 3D. I think this is a must see movie, and a must seen in the theatre movie as well.

we were amazed by it but i think you have to appreciate the story that was told about the relationship/connection between the beings and the universe in which they live. almost native american in theory...

Loved it! Just went and saw it today. I thought it had a great message however my husband read a little too much into it and did not like it. Then again I am more of a tree hugger than him....lol

Saw it tonight in 3D. Honestly, I think those who think it had a week plot are nuts.

Without any doubt, one of my favorite movies of all times.

Wasn't so much weak, but more generic and predictable IMO. But I agree on of my favs of '09 for sure.

Loved every aspect of it.

Finally saw it last week, had a hard time getting in because it was always sold out every other time I went. In IMAX 3D, 42 bucks for three tickets... Ouch.. Kind of pricey but I really enjoyed it anyway. The 3D experience was amazing. The plot was pretty simplistic. Greedy money grubbing aliens = Bad, Proud native people who co-exist with nature = good. But in spite of that I enjoyed myself.

Oh, forgot to mention earlier. Saw it again a second time, and the humans were most certainly wearing masks at the end scene when they left. I looked, lol.
