Alright!!!! Hope what you stated IS fact about her case. Because heres my evidence that people should be responsible for their own ability to grasp and object, and if they cannot properly do so, then they should find other means to do so.

We serve coffee this hot every day. and people seem to manage just fine! Improper handling due to this womans part is her own fault, and no fault of Mc Donalds, Unless of course, they threw it at her. Then she would be justified in suing. dropping the coffee in her own lap, is her own clumsiness. But, i do not know the details, so this is neither really here, nor there.
I handled this coffee with care, while pouring it into our dispensers. I then made my own cup of it! I also added some milk to my own taste, and two small packets of sugar. It was delicious, and i drank it immediately!

according to all the info i've found about the case there is no reason for hot beverages to be more than 140F, with 135F being the norm. I don't drink hot beverages, i'm just saying 3rd degree burns arent what i'd consider fodder in a frivolous lawsuit.

depending how they are caused. yes. maybe.
What if she did it to herself on purpose? for the money?
What if?
Thats all im saying. Shes responsible for her grip on that coffee, and while she won, i dont necessarily agree with it, given the information i have at this current time.

I agree with most, that this case is pretty stupid. And yes, Americans are always happy to sue each other. I'm sure the court shows on TV don't help. They just give off stupid ideas to people. Yay for Media...
IMO, this like a burglar breaking into your house, getting hurt and suing you! It should not happen that way. And yes, burglars CAN sue people for getting hurt in their victims house. I don't know if it's something that will hold water through an entire court hearing though.

i can't argue with that, but wasn't it that lawsuit that put the "warning hot beverage" label on the cups in 400 languages? so NOW no one really has an excuse.
And i cant even begin to put myself into the mindset that someone would have to be in to give themselves third degree burns on purpose. no thanks.

but do we need a warning sign for general knowledge? last time i checked most ppl that drink hot beverages dont prefer them to be cold
seriously whats next do i have to have electrical warnings on my outlets in my house or a warning sign on the hot side of every faucet tripping hazard signs on my front steps?

Youre not justified to sue over a lie.
That's disgusting...
Have some personal accountability.
People sell out their integrity far too easily these days.

What always amazes me about these insanely stupid people who sue for insanely stupid reasons is, what kind of judges do we have running our court systems? What kind of judges are deciding in favor of these idiots? One thing always seems clear to me...Government is insanely stupid

You have it all wrong Matt. It's not judges....these lawsuits are usually decided by a jury. The last time BG checked..... a "jury" is made up of law abiding American citizens. Big Gunns just doesn't get it. That coffee woman wouldn't have gotten a nickel if Big Gunns was on that jury.:rage::rage::rage:
