Don't get me wrong. If I ever did get something like that, I would make sure I had the proper housing and the kid's would go no where near it with out me.
My kid's who are very educated about all the reptiles we have and don't have. I do take my kids over my friends house who has a licsence, he educates them as well. It's a personal preference not to own a venomous snake while I have my kids in the house, just like I won't own another Burm until there out of my house.

This. I love handling reptiles, and having one I can't doesn't appeal to me, same with the safety procedures needed to clean the cage or care for one. I look at my aquarium as a piece of living art, can't really "handle" my Oscars, but I can still reach in and fix something without much work, and I don't have much to worry about if one gets out of the tank. I can see some that may see a nice display terrarium and a venomous reptile in a similar way, to watch and study only, or approach the hobby as a collector, and not a handler, but that isn't me.

I too grew up around guns, own, carry, instruct, and compete with them, and plan on passing that on to my 3 year old son. For those that are interested, but have concerns about safety, especially around young children, attending a "first steps Firearm safety" course is probably free or close to it, and will go a long way in alleviating those concerns. There are simple safety procedures that will keep people safe, most are intuitive, I suspect the same for keeping venomous, although there is a difference in an inanimate tool and a living breathing creature, and what they are capable of.

For now, I think that I'll keep watching the YouTuber, viperkeeper. I am into them, but I'm still young and I don't really want to take a fatal bite. When I get to the age of about 60 and if I'm still fit, I may consider it because the main fun that I wanted to have would be over.

I'd also like to have a lot more experience with snakes than I do now.

My vote is yes. I have a southern copperhead and she is awesome. I am very careful when interacting with her though and she is always kept under lock and key. :)
