Damn dude, I dont even have anything to say anymore. I have not seen any boa hold the babies that long after the plug drop. Your other moms are gonna pop before she does!

Re: It's day 108 now!
Is there something bad that can happen if she just keeps them in her? Is there some medical reason why she isn't giving birth? I can't believe that you could be off so many days......

Re: It's day 108 now!
I'm planning on taking her to a vet for a sonogram if she doesn't deliver by Wednesday morning. That'll give her enough time, right? Dang boas, gotta love them!
-
Re: It's day 108 now!
it wouldnt be an adventure without problems Jimi!
-
Re: It's day 108 now!
i hope shes alright and hope she drops those babies for you even more!! watch her go tuesday night ;)
-
Re: It's day 108 now!
Holy cow. I have been watchin this thread, and just saw it pop up thinking Oh babies.
I can't believe she has gone this long. I would be pulling my hair out!
Hopefully she delivers for you, but if you do end up getting a sonogram done any chance you could get a print out and post it? I am really curious to see what it would look like. I have seen many animal sonograms, but never a snake. Would be interesting!!

Re: It's day 108 now!
she will have them wed morning, just as you are ready to take her to the vet ;)

Re: It's day 108 now!
Okay Jimi, it's Wednesday morning, Pacific time....have you taken her to the vet yet? I speak for us all when I say we are just in suspended animation over this girl..... Hoping for a crazy error in your math and nothing more! :gj:

Re: It's day 108 now!
I was all set to take her to the vet today. I don't usually get home till about 9am Eastern time from work, and when I walked in and looked in at her, I honestly saw no reason to yank her out, bin her up, truck her out in the cold weather and have a vet look at her. She was alert and very curious as to what I was doing. I opened her cage and moved her around a little bit, gently of course, and she was fine with it. No whipping away or anything, which is what gravid mothers usually do when they are under discomfort. I think, for some unknown reason, that she is just defying the 104 day gestation period and also going on the second shed date, instead of the first (which is the norm too). I just can't shake the idea of dragging her to the vet being the worst possible idea at this time. Right now her rear end is swollen and she's slimmed down, which is a good sign the time is coming for her to drop. She seems to be on the same schedule as the boa above her, lol. Her due date is today and she's doing the same thing, but she's WAY more alert right now, I opened her cage to peer in and she just about came all the way out because she was so curious as to why I would open her cage, lol. We'll all just have to wait a little while longer I'm afraid. Sorry to disappoint you all, but just think how I feel!

I think it is always smart to go with a gut feeling... I am thinking good thoughts and can't wait for pictures of the gang. I've come to think of them as 'the special ones'! Crossing fingers and toes for her..and you..and us!!! :)

Re: It's day 108 now!
you just like seeing all of us squirm in anticipation. Your girl is sadistic she just wants all of us to suffer ;)

I almost wonder if it's a hormonal thing. Guys may not know this, but us human females sure do...in a close environment (women living in the same house, sharing an office, etc.), our menstrual periods will all align for some reason (unless more than one woman is on hormonal birth control, in which case the drug wins). Maybe your boa girl senses through smell or something the impending birth of her neighbor and is holding out to give birth at the same time as her...more babies at the same time meaning maybe a better percentage chance for her babies to escape being eaten?
Would be interesting to hear from other breeders if they have seen a similar thing occur....but then thinking about, if it did, we would have heard more about it...I dunno, just thinking...=)

Re: It's day 108 now!
Ya know cassandra I never thought of that, i'd be interested to hear from some of the other boa breeders as well on this topic! :gj:

You really need to leave this gravid mother alone. Completely alone, or you are going to get preemies.
You can't go 100% with set gestation periods. A lot of things can affect it. Mainly your temps. I have seen boas go 1 month past 104 days and give a good litter. I have also seen, more often than not, that people have actually thought they had a pos and they did not.
Your best bet is to just leave this girl alone and wait. No extra misting,,NOTHING!!!! If she starts trying to deliver and has problems, then you want to take her to a Vet. There is nothing you can do but wait and LEAVE HER ALONE or you will regret it.

I appreciate your concern and I hope you don't think I'm in goggling her all day. This thread was set up as a count down, that's all. I mist all my cages twice a day. I don't mist and spray down a gravid female, that would just cause her stress. I mist around her and on the opposite side she is on, she is not disturbed during this. I check in on them ALL about 2-3 times a day. I don't go in there poking her with a stick and cattle prod. Trust me, I'm fully aware of what I'm doing. I'm glad to see you are looking out for the boa's best interest here. Thanks again. :gj:

Re: It's day 108 now!
What's going on with her now Jimi?
Do you see anything to suggest that she is becoming in sync with your other gravid female? :snake:
Are there any warning signs that you are looking for? :weirdface
And lastly, how could you have erred on the date so largely??? :O Do you still believe that this is human error?

They both have very swollen bottoms, or butts, or whatever you'd like to call them...lol. They seem to be very much in sync with each other. I don't think I erred this much either, I think she's just trying to test my patience...lol. I'm hoping it's soon though... I'm going a little :rolleye2: here.

Re: It's day 108 now!

Re: It's day 108 now!
Yup, I'm hoping. I have this girl who is WAY over due...another girl who is a week over due...and another girl due on the 28th...then another girl due on April 4th! Whew! Then I should get a month break before my final two litters are due...thank the BoaGods because I can't deal with another waiting period added on at this point! lol

Re: It's day 108 now!
$20 bucks says she drops them before Easter.

With as stubborn as this girl has been, I'd be tempted to take that bet...

Cool. Keep posted then. I'm almost tempted to say I'll have three litters dropped by the end of this weekend, but one of them I'm not sure of.

No. I didn't think moving her around, especially in a car trip, would do anything but worse harm. She seems fine and continues to move back and forth from the heat. I thought, earlier when I started this thread, that she had dropped her birth plug...I was wrong, she dropped it on Friday and that was definite birth plug.... :weirdface . I'm hoping it'll be soon because I'm really really anticipating this litter...
