Big congrats on your first eggs. As long as that moss is barely moist I wouldn't worry. Although moss has a tendancy to mold after a while, I used to use moss like that for corn snake eggs and I never had a problem. I'm all about improvising when it comes to egg media, and moss works great as long as it's not too wet.
