Cool! I decided to name her that after Rosario Dawson's character in the Quentin Tarantino movie, "Deathproof"...lol.

    Re: Names
All of our ball pythons have either celtic or gaelic names. We generally pick the name based on some characteristic of the snake or how we got that snake, etc. Some examples would be:

Brannagh which means "dark beauty". When we took her in she was a nutso snake. About 1900 grams, unknown history and so out of whack that the pet store employees were scared to even try to feed her (she'd been found abandoned in a box left in front of this small private pet store's door). She was gorgeous but very "dark" in personality LOL. She's a big 3,000+ gram female now and lovely to handle.

Cara which means "friend" was a gift from my dear friend Robin.

Saoirse, whose name means "freedom", came to us as a non-eating wild caught adult (likely imported gravid). Very skinny, non-eating, a healing would, absolutely terrifed of people. She's a lovely female now whose quite comfortable with handling and one of our favorites. Her name, for us, honors her beginnings in the wild.

The milksnake and the boas we have are named basically whatever we feel like and don't follow this theme.

Cool thread JamieLynn :) I'll play....

My first BP was specifically chosen as a male so I could name him Alice after Alice Cooper. Only you old folks like me will know who that is and why I named a male snake Alice. Of course, a boa constrictor would have been more appropriate, but I didn't want such a big snake for my first.

My second BP was sort of a rescue from Craigslist who already had a name, Charger. The girl said her favorite football team was the San Diego Chargers. I then discovered he was actually a she, but just didn't feel like changing her name...it seemed kind of generic anyway.

JamieLynn...this is for you...I bought my first BCI at the NARBC two weeks ago. I wanted a female so I could name her after Marie Laveaux (I'm from Louisiana) and I thought it was perfect for a snake (got the Bobby Bare tune on my iPod :D ) Now this poor little snake was popped AND probed at the show, but first vet visit revealed her to be a him :O ! Well...I ended up changing Marie's name to the male name I already had picked out for my FUTURE male boa...Vincent. Of course, Alice Cooper's REAL name is Vincent Furnier....

    So there you have it...

Glad someone else knows who Marie Laveau is and hope someone knows who Alice Cooper is...otherwise, I'm REALLY old and uncool :rolleye2:

    Re: Names
Little Dude (first bp), Cali (first boa), Pied male #1, Spider Female #5... I now have too many to name, so I just stick with their genetics and a number to tell them apart. Boring I know, but it works.
