I'm not trying to ruffle feathers here, but RATM to me was never anything amazing, great or even average IMO. The only thing I think was good about them was Tim the bass player. As for Tom, gah, he's a horrid guitar player. You don't have to be technical, but the riffs he plays are basically the same ones I was playing when I first started playing guitar about 12 years ago.

I just know that Audioslave is probably the worst collaboration of talented musicians in the history of mankind.

Putting steak and ice cream in a blender would Audioslave's culinary equivalent. I did backflips when I heard that they broke up.

You think tom is horrible? Man, you have issues. It's not the difficulty of his music that makes him great, it's the innovative guitar playing. RATM has no DJ, even though a lot of their songs sound like it.

I didn't even think of Sublime or Alice in Chains. Add those to my list, although, I think Sublime was headed in a direction that would have made me lose interest after a couple more albums.

Innovative? He would play 2-4 notes for the main riff. His guitar solo would involve him unplugging his guitar and hitting the tip of the cable against the bridge and he'd turn his wah-wah on. I made those noises on accident. Not very innovative to be honest.

But could you re-create those same accidents over and over and over?

Just because someone isn't technical doesn't mean they aren't talented and what is noise to some is art to others.

I don't really "get" why people listen to new hip hop with all the computer generated beats and off the wall song themes, but it doesn't warrant me going after the people that appreciate it...crazy or bad or annoying as it may be...

Did you use those noises in your music? That would be the innovative part.

I'm just saying he isn't very innovative. I'd like to hear RATM without the bass player. Tim I think gave them a fuller heavier sound. I watched RATM on MTV about 10 years ago playing in Mexico. I was actually laughing at him doing a guitar solo and how beyond easy his riffs were. Plus, the tunes had the same vibe of hit a single note really hard while the drummer goes berserk on the cymbal.

I concur. I'd get a whipping if I said this in front of the BF,.... RATM never did anything for me and I don't like them at all except for maybe one or two songs. :confuzd:
