Lets see, where to start explaining mine... I love mixing and matching symbolism and fandoms and so on and so forth, but I do it so much sometimes that it gets hard to explain in a short and sweet way...

I've always been deeply interested in mythology, and owls are my favorite birds- barn owls in particular. I'd even go as far as to call the barn owl my totem animal. Owls were very associated with Athena, the Greek Goddess of wisdom with whom I've always been fascinated even when I was little.

Later, I kind of "discovered" Medusa and became obsessed with her, her looks, her story, snakes, etc. The deeper I dug into the connections between her and Athena, the history of the myths rather then the myths itself, it turns out they may have stemmed from the same North African goddess possibly as part of a trinity. That they were just two sides of the same coin, originally, and that it was changed later as the political/social/national pendulum swung as it tends to do.

I feel really sympathetic toward Medusa and don't see how a snake oriented being could be anything but beautiful. So I do a lot of art and story telling (I'm writing a novel about Medusa even) regarding different aspects of the story and the symbolism and so forth. Trying to put forth a different point of view of what she means and make snakes a more positive thing in people's minds.

The owl is Athena's messenger, and in a way I kind of think of myself as Medusa's messenger. Medusa's Owl. :)

There's really two reasons to my screen name. #1 - My favorite NASCAR driver was nicknamed Ironhead and #2 - Back in my partying days my buddies use to have me smash beer cans on my forehead and once a buddy made the comment, lets have old Ironhead smash our cans....So it kinda stuck and have had this nickname for about 25 years.

Well, almost EVERYONE is obsessed with penguins, including ALL of my friends. Personnally though, I think flamingos are way cooler. So, one day I stayed up until around 2 a.m. just chatting with one of my friends that ALWAYS tries to tell me that penguins are the cooler animals and I was trying to come up with an e-mail account, so I wanted it to do with flamingos. Due to the sleep deprivation induced slap-happy mood I was in, I came up with "neon flamingo", but thought it would be WAY more clever to spell it as "Knee on flamingo".

So now every time I see it, I can't help but to roll my eyes at the sheer stupidity that over comes me when I'm that slap-happy, but it makes me giggle a lot too, so I use it for everything.

So yeah... It's dumb, but I have anger issues, and need to laugh occasionally. :rolleye2:

Well, kinda in line with other peoples, I chose this kinda as a e-mail thing back in the day. I was Lady Oriental at the time, but the decided that was not PC enough, and changed it to LadyO. Problem is, someone else was as clever as I was, and already took the name, so I decided to add an H at the end for my first name. Didn't look right, so I added another H, so it looked "better".

Now, people that know me call me out as "Lady Ooohhhhhhhhh!"

You can imagine the types of sounds that that can make.. :rolleyes:

So, there you go. It stuck.
