I just got a bag and am impressed. No dust and it holds a LOT of water without being wet on the surface. I haven't fed on it yet. I'm still weary of it sticking to wet rodents when I feed but we will see. Looks to be awesome so far. I'm anxious to see how it holds it's humidity. Reptichip has been good to me. Will be hard to switch but it's looking good so far.

I've been feeding wet rodents on it (and all the other substrates) and never had a issue.

The ONLY time I had to intervene was with Aspen and Reptichip. That was due to bigger pieces that won't fall apart getting stuck in the gum line. Most likely the snakes would have been able to work them out, but I helped.

That was twice in many, many years of keeping them.

Reptile prime is so soft that even if some ends up swallowed, it won't cause a issue. I haven't seen it sticking to wet rodents much. The only time was when a snake grabbed the rodent butt first, tried to eat it that way, and then gave up. The slimy rodent was a lot stickier then a wet one. But the snake ended up eating the rodent just fine, head first ;)

How many 28 Qt rubs does one bag cover? I use two bricks of reptichip on my 28 QT and 41 QT racks so I'm wondering how many bags would I need of this stuff. Sounds like this product is the best thing since sliced bread, I'm almost convinced to try it out.

I can get a good solid layer ~1" thick after a snake packs it down in a 52 at hefty tub (slightly larger than a 41qt) and it takes a bit under 1 bag to do 2 tubs. Probably do about 2.5 tubs of my size tub, 3 if you use less thick of a layer or have big water bowls that you don't put substrate beneath.

I don't have anyone in a 28qt, so not sure how much that takes.

I do find that I don't need to do a complete clean as often as other sunstrates; if I do spot cleaning well, it still smells fresh at 2 months. (And it contains pee to smaller area)

I just heard about this stuff that this is just the thread I needed.
I'm making a big upgrade for all my noodles over the next few months, new cages, new additions and a large shelving unit purchased especially to be a snake display unit. I think I will order some of this stuff and see how it goes.
I've been using ecoearth myself but I have the same issues with mess, just inconvenience of handling and it does obtain an odor even after spot cleaning after a poo or two.
    Looking forward to trying it.

Whelp, I decided to give Reptile Prime a try and mixing it with my Reptichip. So far I'm really enjoying the results and feel the two compliment each other well. It seems to absorb moisture better than Reptichip and everyone wan't kidding that it just sucks it up. I admit it's fairly fascinating haha.

It helps that currently Reptile Prime is cheaper than Reptichip because the price for Reptichip went up a fair bit. ($30 on Amazon ouch)

I used to do a similar thing mixing orchid bark with eco earth .. with regular damping .. my BRBs thrived on it .

Hmm, seeing all these rave reviews is making me think maybe I should switch. I'm using cypress mulch right now which is great for humidity, but it doesn't look very comfortable to lay on for a snake, and I'm always a bit worried my BP will ingest one of the big sharp pieces when feeding.

Does Reptile Prime mold with moisture? What is the process for getting it to the right level of dampness to maintain humidity for a BP? Do you soak it, mist it? How long does that take to do?
