Nice to see your comment here again! I love it! Very fortunately I've been still alive! Such a great python having full of curiosity always! I love my carpets and balls definitely but he is something special. :)

Yeah I actually wanted a retic for a long time, probably as long if not longer than I wanted boas because the old reptile shop when I was teenager, the owner had retics and burms as pets. I couldn't keep snakes at my parents' house so I ended up buying a hatchling Nile monitor from him as he had eggs that hatched. Really miss my monitor as he was a giant puppy dog but he outgrew my ability to provide for him so I ended talking to the owner and he found him a home with a guy who had lots of monitors and had rooms in his coverted to cages with the doorways being a sliding glass door lol. So he went to a good home.

But I was kind of scared of owning a retic because of their size and their food drive I've read about. But after taking the plunge with Caesar my SD, I love retics. I mean I'm not sure Caesar is the norm as he is my only retic but he is as mellow as my boas. And yeah they are definitely curious and always want to see whats happening.

Great! thank you for sharing your experience and I totally agree with you. Also I could imagine how you were missing your monitor before if his personality was that puppy dog since I had a water monitor when I was teenager but he was not that friendly but still awesome reptile.
Since my boy is from mainland blood so hope that I can cover , handle him properly probably near future! So far so good even with my kids. :)

I would imagine it would be ok since yours is a male so he should stay smaller.....should....lol. I personally think if they are fairly mellow as babies, they will grow into mellow adults as they will become more used to you. At least all my snakes have mellowed more with age.
