Oh that's weird. The first post shows Neil talking about how rap is crap.

Right. The first post was the video before it was deleted.

Face it, stereotyping something is non-scientific; it's the worse face of anything. Saying rappers drag their pants on the ground and shoot everyone, or that metalheads worship satan is about as accurate as saying all Jamaicans smoke, or that all white people are oppressive, rich people.

I wasn't basing what I said off stereotyping. It's called opinions and we all have them. The video was removed anyways so no point in carrying on.

Is there a way I can search for this video off-site? So I can see what all the hubbub is about? Maybe just the search terms and what site name it's posted on?

I am a consenting adult who wishes to view this type of offensive, foul languages content.

Okay, so I'm hesitant to enter into this apparent war-zone but I'll give it a whirl.

I think it's kind of... ignorant, I guess, to classify a whole genre as "crap". Everyone has preferences and there's not a right or wrong... Trust me, sometimes I wish there was, because if it were up to me, we would have the power to smite people for liking Beiber, Cyrus, and One Direction. Talk about bleeding from the ears. But the entire reason we have a whole variety of music is because everyone has different tastes. A taste, a preference, is not a science. It's an opinion.

I think this has escalated past where it should be. It's useless to argue about whether or not an entire genre of music is crap, because someone somewhere enjoys it. And I've yet to see and scientific way to figure out whose opinion is superior... can you pull a study for me?

I don't have an agenda here. I love alternative and contemporary Christian, some country... but I used to love rap (well, mostly Eminem and Fort Minor... still pretty good; you actually might like some Fort Minor songs, Neal. Never got into Lil Wayne or whatever... I PREFER my lyrics to have some sort of substance to them, but there's a time and a place for everything [Except Beiber. The time and place for that is never and in the trash. Just kidding. Kind of. Not really]) Anyway. There are some artists or specific songs that are good in EVERY genre. I mean I kind of can't stand techno, but I've heard a cool song or two. As a rule I don't care for pop, but I gotta admit, I dig Maroon 5, Pink, and Katy Perry.. sometimes.

I don't know why this exploded. You can simply say YOU don't LIKE a certain genre of music. I get the screaming impression of "ignorant degenerate" from anyone sagging pants or slurring words all over the place, but I don't know that for sure, and I don't tie that concretely with a genre of music and let it determine what I listen to.

tl;dr : stupid argument on both ends, music is an opinion, you can't speak as an authority on it beyond your own personal likes- and it should be worded as such. Most genres of music have cursing, sex, drugs, or violence SOMEWHERE- under what conditions you find it tasteful is your opinion as well.

Okay Neal, you cannot stereotype people who listen to rap/hip-hop. 90% of all music I enjoy is Hip-hop based. I do not walk around killing people, doing drugs, or degrading woman. The rappers I listen to do not even rap about this. I am a state worker with the DEM with a Masters in Enviormental Economics. I enjoy rap because I can relate to the music and rap is based off poetry. An average person can not rhyme and make beats that people will buy and listen to. Rapping takes a lot of skill. And I agree that rap on the radio is mostly garbage but not all of it. I listen to a lot of artists that are not mainstream because they do not promote violence or degrading of woman and drugs. Your statement "all rap is garbage" is your own opinion since it is a art if you agree or not.

I actually don't loose Geek. I can just as easily stereotype you as a kid who was bullied in school. Rap is crap and I'll say it again time after time. I never said all the songs are crap, but in general it's crap. They have a few good songs, I can think of 3-4 off the top of my head.

I tell you what though Geek, if you don't like my beliefs or that I stereotype rap with mostly the punk kids you see blaring their music with the bass that rattles their car, sag their pants and that 95% of the ones that do sag their pants have the literacy of a 6 year old then I tell you what. Come to Louisiana and change my opinion/beliefs by "talking" to me. Otherwise stop crying, be a big boy and let the thread die. Then go sag your pants so you can be somebody elses property. Ok? Ok thanks.
