I agree 100%. Rocket V for everyone. I don't know how true this is but I heard that WTB sent some riders out with balsa wood seats on their bikes. They were told to share the wood down until they had a comfy seat. That's how they ended up with the basic shapes for their seats. Awesome story.

Slick MTB tires will still weigh more than road tires, and thus be harder to accelerate and to maintain speed on. The wheels are bigger and heavier, too. The more rotating weight you have, the harder it is to go fast. Not saying you can't do it, just that you're working harder if you do.

Bikes are bikes...it all comes down to personal preference. It looks like a great commuter, even if it's gonna crack and fall apart and it weighs 65 pounds. <<<sarcasm :D

If I could commute by bike I'd be sporting something like this...slick tires, light weight, steel frame, basic single speed no frills transportation...and if you're mechanically inclined you can find them at yard sales for 10 bucks in stock form and spend a few hours and a few more bucks converting them to SS...

It is a nice ride, light weight and while it is a MTB I enjoy riding it, and I'm somewhat intimidated by skinny road tires :P

So would you say this bike is falsely advertised?
It says it's assembled and welded here in the usa...

I know they used to make some models here in the US but I thought they were all overseas now? Not that it matters as they are just as good a quality as any other mass produced bike...

Bontrager...as in Keith Bontrager...a legendary frame builder. Unfortunately Trek decided to stick his name on just about everything coming out of their factories in Taiwan...

It's no big deal...the pricier bikes coming out of Taiwan are just as good as what was being made here...
