python_addict; I know a good video on running and running shoes, I will have to dig it up. Very informative and I think you will get a lot out of it. As far as your butt goes, Cupid pretty much answered it. Use weights and dont worry about building huge muscles. It wont happen.

Everyone needs a diet. Does it have to be a fad or complicated diet? Not at all. I think if you are serious about getting fit and starting a diet get in touch with a nutritionist and get the basics out of the way. It can be tough with all the misinformation floating around for someone new to it. If you find your maintenance calories you should be able to figure out a lot of things based on your goals. If you make your diet sufficient in nutritious foods and hit your macros (protein, carbs, and fats) you should be set. This is something a nutritionist can help you figure out.

Also, I really like the pic that Clear posted. If you look at it she looks leaner in the second pic even tough she weighs more. It looks like she added lean body mass and dropped body fat which makes her look leaner even though she weighs more. Your goal should be adding lean body mass by hitting the weights and eating right. So I would get your diet figured out and then get on a structured weight training program.
    Good luck!

Cant say it much better than djansen said it. Diet = the food you eat, not programs for dropping un-wanted pounds :P

Doctors are trained in medicine not nutrition. I wouldnt take any advice from a doctor about nutrition to heart. Also I wouldnt take all nutritional advice from nutritionist either, but that is just me. If you go see a nutritionist, quiz them. See if they really know what they are talking about, or just feeding you crap.

On the bright side, you can drop fat from anywhere on your body, but you cant target specific areas. Women generally load fat in their butt and boobs first, and it is usually the last place that weight drops off. Diet is 70% of being healthy, excersise is the other 30%. Once you find what works for you, your body will progress to the ideal size and frame it needs/wants to be.

    Good luck!

LOL!! When you lose fat it's hard to target specific areas like your bust or bottom - It's not impossible, but your body chooses which fat stores are used. When you target your gluteus maximus or your pectorial area with exercise your triggering muscle growth in that area so you can look thinner and healthier because the muscle mass is greater. However, that area will be larger because there is new muscle growth there.

Liposuction can be done essentially everywhere (including your butt) - but liposuction is expensive and unnecessary in 99% of cases.. Its the rich persons lazy method to loosing fat.

exactly - when I lost 100lbs I was eating virtually nothing. I would skip breakfast and eat a salad for lunch and dinner. I started passing out at the 180lb mark and ended up in hospital. My doctor tried to tell me that I was eating too much, but that I should start drinking juice.. I never take nutritional advice from doctors.

Another thing about liposuction, it removes fat cells from one part of your body, but if you dont change the way you are eating guess what happens?! Your body will still store fat, but in other areas!!!!!!!!!!
