Re: New Blood Line Sierra Mojave
Sorry, I just saw the pics of the Red snake... which does not look Mojave to me, but rather a cross of some sort as Aes noted... the babies are the offspring of this particular snake?

If so, what else came out of the clutch?

Maybe start over and explain it again in one post with pics as the first 4 pages are a bit muddled. :)

    Whats everyone think?

    Need history.

If its from a known mojave, you can't call it a new line unless it producing animals like that 100% of the time. It's more likely a combo as stated above.

If you imported it, you can't call it anything without proving it out.

OK here is the story. I Purchased a "Mojave" from someone who knew absolutely nothing about ball pythons, just wanted a neat pet. (very nice guy) He told me he purchased the animal a few years ago for a good deal of money but it was just a Mojave. He said he was moving and could no longer keep him. I explained to him that the "Mojave" looked very odd but purchased it from him at a Mojave price.

I put him on one normal female exclusively and split another normal female between him and a Het Red. Eggs have hatched and this is what came out!

    "Mojave" x normal - 3.0 "Mojave", and 0.2 normal

    "Mojave"/Het Red x normal - 0.1 "Mojave" 0.1 Het Red, 2.0 Het red 2.0 normal

I will get more pics of babies now that they have shed.

I got an email about them from a guy named Richared. He knew an good deal about them them. He said he brought them in to the country and brokered them out a few years ago and since then had heard that all had died except his. He gave me quite a bit of info. he said he kept some and has not released that many. He had know idea that any others were still around. I dont really know what the "rules" are on it but I have it all in email.

That's interesting... I hope you get a new line... I hope you stumble on something fun... There are a lot of questions to be asked though:)

I had to read that a couple times ... At first I thought that you were saying that your new line mojave produced het reds as well as mojaves, but it sounds as though he just shared paternity with the het red male on the 2nd clutch.

... I don't know anything at all about this bloodline, but I will say that it doesn't surprise me that there would be more than one bloodline of mojave that's been imported. I think there are at least two separate bloodlines of lesser, maybe more ...? ... Plenty of separate lines of albino, piebald, cinnamon, pastel, caramel albino, etc., etc...

... Fun to stumble on one like that, though!

If the other guy is still breeding/keeping them then I would assume that he would be close to proving them out.

Nice snake, but it's not a new line of anything if someone else brought it into the country and is working with it. It'll be interesting to see if there is a super form though! Good luck!
