awww thats so adorable :P. that henna looks like a real big sweety. i'm surprised she ate while incubating cuz everything i've read/heard has said that females will not eat if they have eggs with them.
It was the same for me when I started breeding in 2008. I tried feeding once during that first time and when she refused, I assumed it was normal and didn't offer again until the day her eggs hatched because of what I'd been told or read. I wish I had listened more to my gut then. Just because it's in a book or is information handed down from another breeder who's been in the business for a decade or more doesn't mean it's infallible.
I've tried to get plenty of feeding pics this year to help debunk some of the misinformation that's out there. Some girls are slow to start eating again and you might have to try a variety of prey items or ways of offering meals in order to coax them back onto feed but that, to me, is no different than getting any other new mom back to eating. The only difference being that mine are still brooding their clutches. As long as the girls are comfortable, there's no reason why they shouldn't resume feeding while brooding. The egg scent doesn't make them refuse meals so long as the eggs are still present.
Thanks for the compliment. This is Henna's first year breeding and she really is one of the sweetest snakes here. Of all the females I've been breeding, she's the only one I raised from baby to adult and the very first morph I ever bought. The other girls I've been given or purchased as sub-adults or adults. It makes this clutch a little extra special. :D
The first baby to actually leave its egg is a little scaredy cat. She couldn't fit back into her own egg and tried to crawl under a sibling's egg. She's looks a lot like Alchemy (her dad). :)
The second baby out was the albino and it's a little boy. :)
I'll get more pics when the rest leave their eggs. I've got these two set up in a little tub so they can settle in while they get ready to shed.

They are so pretty. I have been following this thread!! My favourite is Henna and the little face poking between her coils. Beautiful clutch and congrats!

Re: Henna's Clutch
tried to crawl back into its own egg then under a siblings egg?
:P that is too funny.
"i change my mind! i dont wanna be hatched yet!"
The last three finally decided to vacate their eggs. With this being her first year breeding and brooding, I'm very proud of Henna. She's been a great mom. :)
Looks like we wound up with 1 albino male (my keeper), 1 male het and 3 female hets. I really wish there had been a female albino in here as well so I could send her off to my friend since that's all she really wanted out of this clutch. Hopefully the pied/het pied clutch will have better odds for us.

Great thread, the pic of the baby albino peeking from beneath mamma's coils is priceless!
