There are a lot of stereotypes out there about snake owners. One image that comes to mind is the young, white, tattooed, smoker type - ironically, this is very outdated and inaccurate I've found.

    In my observation:

Most of the people I know that like snakes as pets are women.
Most of the people I know that like snakes for any other reason are men.

Couple here. Like a lot of others have said, we know a lot of men who are afraid of snakes, and most of our female friends want to hold them or touch them. Once they see how tame BP's are, we hear, "when can I come over and see your snakes again?" :rolleye2:

im a woman & soon to be owner of a bp. ive got the terrarium set up & am just waitin' to get a few more things. i've loved animals all my life & when i was little i used to bring dead things into the house crying & begging my mom to "fix it". she'd just yell at me & make me take it back outside. i remember being so confused as to why she wouldnt just make them better, LOL.

I am a guy and my girlfriend loves my snakes as much as I do. (sounds wrong but whatever) LOL. I have chosen carefully for looks and genetics. Love them all even the grouchy one.

LOVE THEM....And I am a woman. Use to be way back in the day that snakes were looked at as these scary hungry monsters that would hunt you down and eat you... But now with all the education and research out there on them the real truth is revealed and people see they are not so scary after all. In fact, owning a snake these days has become very common and not looked at as crazy anymore. I guess you could say it's more accepted, just like owning a dog, cat or parrot.

I’m female and my daughter and I are both into snakes and reptiles. Our boyfriends are slowly getting over their fear! Her boyfriend is coming around and has even purchased his own snake now. My boyfriend on the other hand prefers to admire from a far. Lol

I'm a female :) my boyfriend couldn't have cared less either way towards my getting a snake when I brought it up (I wanted to check how he'd feel since we do live together) but since getting her I'd almost say that he loves her more than I do! [emoji23] I'm obsessed with her but he describes her as "a little ray of sunshine" and a "donut of love" when she's curled in a perfect little ball...those wouldn't even be MY first choice of words when describing a snake even though I love her to death [emoji38] I think it's pretty funny to be honest
