Thats kinda harsh.... no matter what some one does that is not exactly a beacon of genius..... they should never be called french....

Never thought French could be used as an insult?

Am I offended? No because I don’t get offended very easily however I would like to remind you that some people might be a bit more sensitive to this.

What if instead someone was using the word American as an insult how would YOU feel, I know many would have already jump on that person for doing so.

Also is it any different than if you were using someone's gender or color as an insult?

Next time think before you write (if that is possible of course :rolleyes:)

PS: This French person here will gladly give you a history course on the French involvement in the American Revolutionary War which help this country becomes what it is now.

Wow, didn't mean to offend or even pretend to offend. I am well aware of the contribution the French Navy and French infantry advisors made to the American Revolution. I have served in NATO and Coalition assignments with many French officers and enlisted alike. Good natured joking between us based on nationality was always the norm, so as an American, I have been the butt of several very cleaver French jokes, told to my face, in two languages, no less. No one ever jumped up and threw punches over it, and actually, was a form of bonding between the services...maybe it' just the military culture, which doesn't always translate very well to civilians who do not share a common frame of reference. Hell, it was a French officer who told me the joke about why they plant trees along the streets in Paris. (if anyone needs the punch line, you can PM me).
