How Many BP Do You Have

cant wait till the reptile show in white plains ill go from 4 to 10ish lol :D

Just bought my first one 3 days ago!

well, alway being a big corn guy.. the wife wanted to get into royals for years, and after nagging me half to death, she got her way/
we now have 16, most are growing on nicely now hoefully for next year... if we successfully do breed some, there are likely to be quite a few keepers aswell.

Just two so far... 0.1 Normal and 1.0 Pastel. But I'm already getting addicted, and thinking about my next purchase/s. :D

Zero. Wife and I are wanting a ball bad, but want to wait til our 4th son is at least talking better or til next June when he turns 3. She has been looking at spider morphs. Me.....I don't know yet, just want one. We went to 2 reptile shows this weekend just outside Louisville, Ky. Held several bps, but I must admit that I kind of feel in love with the sand boa, until it bit my wife. Glad it was just a juvie. More than likely we will get a bp, just don't know which morph, but we do know that we want a baby. Gonna try and get one thats only about 2-3 wks old. We plan on going to the Indy show at the end of the month so we shall see. If anyone out there can give some good advice, we are all ears.

You won't likely get a 2-3 week old because babies have their 1st shed about 10 days or so after hatching. Then the breeder will get it established/feeding before he or she sells it. Most folks won't part with their babies until they've had at least 3 or so meals & weigh over 100 grams. This is for your benefit so the snake will do well for you. Please feel free to start a new thread pertaining to BPs & we'll be happy to answer your questions to help you make the right choices for you. :)

We only have 3 normal BP's but I am really hoping that my BF will let me get an albino at the Anaheim show if we can find one for a good price....:please:

I have four new fifteen day old ball pythons. Two males and two females. All from different clutches and all normals. I want to get into albinos next year. Aside from those, I have a male gray rat snake who I've had for twelve years and he rocks! :)

I have replied to this thread before, but as we all know, ball python collections are constantly evolving and changing. I currently have 22 balls, plus 6 eggs cooking and due to hatch in a couple weeks.

As for the eggs, there are from a normal girl that i bred my spider and lesser to. So far, i candled them and for sure can see 2 spiders, the rest i will have to wait and see!

This is now it for a while for buying anything new. The only thing i have planned in the near future is picking up a proven or ready to breed yellowbelly male when my yellowbelly girl reaches breeding size, but that is a couple years down the road.

I got nothing yet. Still doing research and learning all I can so I can be a top notch BP owner. Hopefully I'll get a couple of sub-adults by the end of this year so we can all get to know each other before next years breeding season. :)

I have 2 pastel males..both from craigslist..one was from a guy that hatched him..and on from a cousin that burned his bottom on a heat rock so i took over...both hatchlings...hopefully by next summer i'm looking to get a female yellow belly,female spider and male albino..i hope it turn out that way..

I'm looking to make super cinnys, vanilla pastels, ivorys, and BELs. So I'm looking into at least 4 additional on top of the 3 I'm waiting for. So 7 more to come in roughly 3+ yrs.

Wow dude, thats alot of snakes. My husband gets choked up about our 9 and growing fast. hahaha. I'm guessing you house and have your own feed supply as well, because going to the store would be expensive.

This thread was started back in 2008? Still a good one!

I jumped off the cliff this year and decided after getting laid off from my job to get into breeding reptiles full time, I actually started two years ago. My plan was to switch in another three years but getting laid off is speeding things up!!

As for ball pythons I have 22 females I'm breeding this year, 8 males (7 are being bred) and four females too small to breed this year, two of those should be ready next year (including my pinstripe pied female!). So 34 ball pythons total. Hope to have a lot more when things start hatching out!

I also have a pair of dwarf / super dwarf retics that I'm hoping will produce this year and are paired up right now. Also have 5 king snakes that are breeding size but I'm getting out of that project. Looking for more cool ball python projects all the time, I like the Axanthics from JD that are similar to the Stormtrooper lines, have my eye on some Highway / Freeway projects, also want to get more Clown and Pied stuff, I'm really interested in the Panda Pied project. It's such an awesome time to get into breeding ball pythons, there are so many morphs out there that you can find several niches to work in. I'm trying to find really cool morphs that I don't see at local shows so I can bring some variety to town!

Starting in 2018 I'm going to get a table at several reptile shows including NARBC and Repticon, assuming I have a successful year breeding!

I'm kind of weirded out by having a huge collection of them, unless you're a breeder making a living off of it. just seems kind of weird to me. that said I hope to breed some of mine eventually and its going to be hard to let the babies go. by that time I hope to have a rack system so ill likely keep all the babies (I read its common for 1st time mothers to only lay 2-3 eggs)

Only one, and looking forward I think I'd only want a max of three ball pythons anyways. I want to branch out into different kinds of snakes at some point, starting with a russian rat snake. My roommate's super interested in tegus, but that's a whole different ballgame lol.

I currently have 2 and my GF has one. So we have 3 total. We have a normal male, banana pastave male, and a BEL(super lesser possibly pastel, spider, and/or GHI) female. I am trying to talk my GF into letting me get another female in December when we go to a reptile expo. We are already planning on picking up a female western hognose if we find one we love.

Not quite 20. Even if you count the ones I'm taking care of for other people it only comes out to 18.

I'm happy with the size of my collection. It's small enough to be manageable, but large enough that I have all my favorite morphs and I'll be able to make a lot of great combos. Gonna be hard not to keep all those babies.

Could stand to take on a few more colubrids or rosys, but I think I've found my sweet spot with the BPs.
