i just want to say the work you accomplished was well worth it, you made those animals so much healthier and happier for the time being. If it was me i would pick up the rack adopt as many snakes as i could and sell them on here, then donate the profits somewhere. Basically start your own mini refuge

Wow, you know, I would put pressure on the guy. He must have started out with the best intentions, but when he is deliberately refusing to change because of his weird ways... No. I would contact the herp society down there and see if these people have any connections about how to either help the guy shape up... or remove his animals. If those animals are in such deplorable conditions, you need to report it to the authorities. Give your account of how its been and get them in there ASAP. That's ridiculous! I would really put that guy under fire. But that's just me. :(
