Re: How to become FedEx Certified to ship reptiles....
Is there a difference between an account representative and an account executive? When I've called to have my account rep contact me during this process, I've been in touch with three different people.

I don't have a fax machine currently but did get in touch with an account rep and gave her the report number. After she got that from me, she said that she was sending all of my info to legal and that either she or they would be calling me back. It's been a little over a week now and I haven't heard from that rep or from anyone else regarding the matter.

I didn't know what sort of time frame to expect for this so I figured I'd ask. I guess I'll make phone calls tomorrow and see what's going on with my waiver.

I would say the Acct rep or execu. is same just other personnel call it differently

I had thought they were the same, but I hear them referred to differently on forums and I wasn't sure. Figured I'd risk sounding like a dummy and ask if there was a difference.

Also, hopefully they offered to send you some self-adhesive labels to use for shipping :confused:. If you print your shipping label from your computer and drop it off you get an additional discount (and don't have to fill out the way-bill either).

I'm getting the impression that many reps just do the 'bare-minimum' rather than focusing on your business needs. I just dropped off a burm for Priority Overnight using the self-adhesive label my account executive sent me and it was smooth as silk. I can't wait to see how much it will cost with the supposed discounts.

I grabbed a self-adhensive label at the OfficeMax where I dropped off my test package but would definitely appreciate already having those here at home. I just left a message for my account rep to contact me and I'll be sure to ask about that when I talk to them.

Okay continued FedEx learning...Don't expect to get great supplies for being an account holder from FedEx stores (at least the little strip mall ones)...They have every size box you could want FOR SALE, but only the smaller white boxes for free...They don't have self adhesive labels and said that FedEx doesn't provide those to account holders...Fun stuff...:rage::rage:

Well, I finally got certified on thursday afternoon at 3:00 and shipped out 9 balls at 5:57 that same afternoon. To everyone trying to get certified...keep on fedex, I waited to get certified after faxing and e-mailing the signed waiver in and when I finally lost my patience I called and the live animal department said they had not received my signed waiver. I had to refax the waiver and after that the live animal department called and said they did not receive my test package approval. I had to e-mail my test package approval to the live animal department and after jumping through hoops most of thursday they called and said i was certified to ship. Hope this helps all those trying to get certified...be persistent!!!

    2. Find your FedEx account representative. I did this by calling 1-800-GO-FEDEX. You will need to say. …TECHNICAL SUPPORT…REP. You will understand that when you make the call. Ask the representative to have your FedEx account representative call you. Then wait for the call. You will not be able to really do anything at this point, but make sure you get the contact info and fax number of your representative. You will need this information later after you get your test package results back.

Does anyone know if step two is still accurate, six years later? I am trying to complete the process and every time I ask a tech support person to "have my representative call me" they act like I am from outer space. I got transferred to the "animal desk" where I was able to leave a message.

    Any help?

I would have to say after finishing the process the step is slightly-incorrect because new accounts aren't automatically given a representative. If the account is designated one, the call center people won't be able to connect you with them. They will only say they will e-mail them on your behalf. I had to make numerous calls before I found my rep and BOY WAS I GLAD WHEN I DID. She's an awesome one!!!

I digress, sorry. Thus, don't get frustrated when they can't give you his/her name and contact number. They probably don't have it yet. I hope this makes sense?:confused:

I'm sorry to say, you can ask but they won't give you their name...I finally got my rep after my test-package was approved...Thus, at that time I was able to really push hard to get in contact with my account rep...They will have to have get you in contact with them because you'll have to send your test-results to them and the get ready to jump through the legal-waiver hoop...

You will need an account number to bill the recipient, but once you package passes you will have to work with your account rep to get the paperworks for all the legal stuff before you can get approval to ship snakes from my understanding. What I did is call the 800 number on the page where you access the pdf and just asked for my account rep to contact me. Mine was very helpful and went the extra mile to find me the account number to the recipient.

Now that my package was delivered to the testing station how long till i get my results on average? It was just delivered this morning.

I called the legal department today since I've been waiting for over 2 weeks now on my waiver and I was getting tired to talking to reps who would tell me I needed to call the live animal desk or that I was calling the wrong number. I spoke to someone who told me that the person in charge of reptiles is Misty (I didn't catch her last name, sorry) but that she's on vacation right now. I was told the only person who would be able to help me right now would be Misty's boss. His name is Rusty Philips and the number I dialed went to his office. He was on lunch when I called so I left a message. This was around noon, my time. It's now 2:30 and I just tried to call back and the phone just rings and rings.. I'll try again later, but if anyone else was having trouble getting any info on their waivers here's the number to the legal department I contacted earlier: 1.901.434.8494

That's what I was expecting...Actually, after dealing with all the neanderthals from the call center, I was expecting 2 months...:rage::rage:

However, my rep is waaay awesome...I've done outside sales and she's did a great job earning my loyalty, especially after the reps were so incompetent that I almost pulled out of the process...I'm actually struggling to move even if a cheaper option comes around though I'd be paying more at FedEx, because my rep actually adds a personal touch to my shipping...

So, after my long-winded typing session...I was lucky I think and not the norm for sure!! :please::please::please:

I would wait until the end of the week or beginning of the next week. The holiday weekend probably delays things a bit. You'll be contacted via e-mail letting you know you passed. There is a number on the website for the Test and Development Dept. but they are slow to return calls. I left one there before in my early quest.

Once you get your "passing" email, start calling your rep so you can get the results to him/her and then they can pass it onto the legal dept. You're past the mid-way part of the FedEx Marathon. :gj::gj::gj:

If you don't see it there...It's probably still in the process...Since it is the season where many are shipping and SYR is not longer an option...This could be the reason for the added delay...My rep said that there are many people becoming certified from talking with her peers...I'd be patient for a bit longer before you start making a bunch of phone calls...

I know it's easy to "Monday Morning Quaterback" but it's way worth it when it's finished...Just got back from FedEx as I type and it was sooo simple...

Okay I'm gonna throw out a bunch of questions here, sorry hahah

I'm filling out the application and not sure what I should put for answers.

    Quote:

Is this packaging test required as part of a vendor approval program? Yes or No?
It's no right or is FedEx the vendor making us do this???

    Quote:

This packaging is - Current Packaging? Prototype? Production sample?
    Current Packaging, right?

    Quote:

What kind of damage might you expect if the packaging failed?
Not sure what to put there???

    Quote:

I have placed the test package inside an additional package with cushioning that is overpacked/overboxed for safe shipment. Yes?
    No?
    That's yes, right?

Onto my next question lol, These free supplies everyone is talking about, it's just the airbills that go on top of the box with the To/From information etc...

Has anyone got the "pre-printed" ones for free?

Thanks so much, sorry for all the questions but I'm a little confused

Has anyone got the "pre-printed" ones for free? They don't have pre-printed airbills, but you can get self-adhesive sticker that you can use for printing from home. They are the best and my rep. sent me out some and I got them the next day and have been using them ever since. The free-supplies they offer isn't worth your time. Nothing you can use for reptile shipping.

When we send our test package do we set-up our test box and then put it inside another box like the application PDF says?

Also, I'm really confused on this business to business front. I am not a busniess, I will be shipping from my house to other people houses..is that not allowed? Will they still ship my shipments?

Next bit of things I am confused on....

When we send our test package do we set-up our test box and then put it inside another box like the application PDF says? NO, just your normal packaging...

Also, I'm really confused on this business to business front. I am not a busniess, I will be shipping from my house to other people houses..is that not allowed? Will they still ship my shipments? Your name will be your business name because you need to be a business (i.e. John Doe Reptiles)..

I does not hurt to put your test box in another box to ship it but it is not required.

I'll write my name + reptiles for busniess name, but from what I've read that doesn't really matter as FedEx does the classification from zoning points, i.e where the houses are located...

***Edit - this is more along the lines of after getting certified and actually shipping snakes...
