Thanks man. I really am pretty proud of acquiring Gina. I wanted a BCC for a while but never really saw one i wanted that was for sale lol. Udo Wagner has a few that i would trade a kid for but they arent for sale. He has some smokin Peruvians which I'd love to get my grabby little hands on but again, not for sale lol. I got one lone empty T8 left and I'm trying to decide on either a Peruvian, a moonglow BCI or selling it and putting the cash towards a red neonate biak cross GTP. Pat is just a blast at night. Little booger will perch at the front of the cage and if i wiggle the tip of a white paper towel towards him, he will assume the 'dinner time' position and look at it haha. This is through the glass so he cant actually get it and only for a few secs as i dont want him to strike the glass.

Sneak peek of Gina, using a big piece of cypress as a pillow lol. She's in her dark phase after eating her weaned rat.

Thanks. This is the Zoo Med forest floor stuff. I just order it from Chewy.com. Can't beat the fairly cheap price and even better, free 2 day shipping.
This is the first time i've used cypress and i have to say, i am pretty pleased. The lays flat which is what i have been looking for.

Caught Gina up top today. I think she gives a tails up to the silk plant on the shelf idea lol. Either that or she is hungry again.....which i wouldnt find surprising. Everyone is just a bottomless pit.

And we got another pic of Jungle Gina!! Look at all that pink coming in on her sides. She is drenched in it!! Such a pretty girl :)

Well, i think Gina has found a new spot to hang out. She was up on her shelf under her plants most of the day yesterday. Then last night she came down, went inside her warm hide for about an hour and then was out exploring around. Now today i caught her back up above the warm hide in the shelf under her plants. I'm guessing this is a definite thumbs up to the plants hanging over the shelf idea. No one else seem to care too much about though lol.

She's so innocent looking but the minute you show her a weaned rat, she turns into danger noodle and you better watch the fingers lol.

Thanks. I just used reusable zip ties and attached them to the horizontal cut vent slots in the cages. It's perfect height to keep them off the shelf but low enough that the snakes think they are slithering through a little jungle lol.

Thanks. And yeah, the green leaves do show off her color pretty good. She loves that plant now. She has replaced her cool hide with the plant now haha. She is either inside her warm hide or up above it on the shelf under the plant.

Thanks. I do love her tail. Cant wait for summer to get some more outdoor pics of her. She pops really nice in actual sunshine. And would probably help if i had one of those fancy nice cameras lol.
Maybe one day but atm i still need an AP cage for Pat, maybe a bigger AP cage for Caesar, either another GTP(a red neo this time) or a baby ETB. And i also still need a dang small chest freezer so i can quit paying like $120 a month in just snake food :(

Today was nice and warm so i took Gina out for a couple pics as i didnt have much time and wanted to try and get as much of the gang outside for at least a little bit of sun as tomorrow is supposed to get cold and rain again lol. Gina's color are getting crazy. Not sure if the camera picked them up but she is just drenched in pink on her sides and her top is golden brown. It's almost like a Peruvian. She wasnt cooperating though as she was more interested in exploring haha. And yes, in the first pic, her head is darker than the rest of her. I dont know how she does it but she can lighten and darken parts of her body or her whole body lol. So glad i found and was able to snatch this girl up. Luckily the one guy who beat me to the punch when i told Chris i wanted Gina, picked the other girl so i ended up getting the one i wanted, Gina.

I think she's beautiful and that's no secret to most here that know my taste in boas!
Look at the pinks on the sides and the buckskin on the top!!!! What a specimen she is, and what a smart purchase.
Not many folks are lucky enough to have a boa from Rio Bravo lines, I'm happy to be one myself, and I always enjoy seeing pure, locality animals like Gina.

Thanks. I feel pretty fortunate to have scored Gina when i did. I was originally looking for a Peruvian BCC but when i saw Gina, i immediately messaged Chris and said "I want now!!' lol. And she has just gotten better with age. She was just a little light colored kind of greyish brown worm when i got her. Now she is flowering into a very impressive woman :D

Lol will do. She just keeps getting prettier with age. When i got her, she was just kind of a grey little snake with a red tail. Now she has her pinks all coming in and her buckskin top is getting defined too.

Hopefully folks understand how special this locale is. There are some lucky people that have these animals with locality data.
Getting an animal from a paring of these lines is not something that you stumble upon.
Gina is the real deal and is selectively bred from the best of the best.
When Sauzo posts a picture of her in 2 more years, mouths will drop.
-
Just looked again, and my favorite changes are taking place with her already. The light, beautiful, buckskin dorsal area, and the pinks coming in on the sides, she's a smoker!
-
Looks like Gina approves of the fresh cypress. Went almost 3 months on the old cypress with the boas and they all seem to really like the new fresh stuff lol. She is such a pretty girl.

Thanks man. Like i said before, i didnt really plan on her. I was actually hunting down a Peruvian BCC and ran across Gina along with her sister and brother get put on the boards about 30 mins before i saw it. Luckily i was quick enough and was only beat by one other guy for the females. And lucky again for me, the other guy picked Gina's sister which wasnt nearly as nice looking or with nice uniform pattern. And Gina's brother sold in within the hour of both the females selling lol.
You know, funny part is i still dont have that book lol. I need to get that book as well as Justin Julander's GTP book. But again, I need a chest freezer first!! Gotta keep reminding myself of it haha.
And you cant go wrong with a boa. As long as you get a mellow one. Gina is so laid back. Chris even made a little video he sent to me to show how calm Gina was when i was buying her. Also sent me pics of her being born in the pile of goo with a bunch of her siblings haha. Boas are really on the opposite spectrum of retics imo. Where as retics constantly move, piss, poop and generally make you angry, boas are laid back, eat less, piss and poop less and generally are quiet and easy going. Also not sure but when Chris and i were talking about BCC in general and them puking from too big of food etc, he told me what he has noticed with breeding Rio Bravo stock is they tend to not have as fragile stomach and have a more laid back temperament.

I actually saw a male rio bravo pokigron on one of the FB groups the other day... wanted so bad to grab it but I don’t even have a cage for another snake right now, helps with the impulse purchase management

Hahaha, so true. I got that extra T8 along with 3 free spots on one of the Herpstat 6 but in my case, being broke helps with the impulse buy haha.
Get a female!! They get bigger and more girth. Be like a laid back SD retic kind of lol.

Honestly I think I’d like a closer to medium sized snake next. Male bcc might fit the bill? Gerald is ~8’ now, ~9.5 Phyllis, and then tiny little 3’10” Geoffrey, I’d like something in the ~6-7’ range with some body to it. I feel like I need a boa in my life eventually

Yeah 6-7 feet sounds about right for a male suriname.
And yeah boas are neat. Reason i got 5 of them lol.

Gina is extra happy today. She is in her light phase. You can really see her little eyelashes and head markings now. I love how her head spear splits at the end by her nose into a triangle. Also love the eyelashes on boas. And yes, you only see the head, i have no idea where her body is. I decided to give the little boas full bags of cypress which gives them almost 2 inches deep of substrate now so Gina and Luna have been crazy and digging all over lol.

She is a beauty, I didn't know boas enjoy burrowing in the substrate, love the picture thank you for sharing :D

Most boas will burrow if you give them deep enough substrate. Even Vicky, my 6 foot sunglow with dig a trench and lay in it lol. Her substrate isnt deep enough as i would have to make it like 4+ inches deep for her to burrow lol.

I always feel the need to say this, especially if newer folks are looking at this thread.
VERY FEW people, at least that I see here, have a boa like this.
Gus Rentfro bred this line of pure locality boas and some are lucky to have them.
I have a locality boa from Gus sold to me through another party.
Anyhow, this is a long winded way of saying,
Beautiful snake.

Caught Gina out and about tonight. She loves having 2 bags deep of cypress and has made all sorts of tunnels haha. Here she is poking her head up to see where she ended up lol. Also got a nice shot of her tail too.....so red :D
