After reading 15 pgs here most of the ones on fauna and her comment on the taxidermy site all I can say is wow! She clearly doesn't care about her reputation, good luck and keep us posted.

Re: Beware of Casey Lauren Byiers (Rhasputin/EVLV/Eccentric Evolution)
She was here and gone with nothing to say apparently, a few minutes ago.
As we speak, she's got her hands in another shipping deal. She sure managed to find the money to pay for THAT.

.Okay okay okay, I got this under control. Nathan sold some tanks for me in VA, so I'm good to go as soon as he makes it home and gets online. .
Briefly glanced at some other posts there, and she's completely ignoring the situation when it's been mentioned on that forum. Given that she's admin, I doubt postings about her behavior would last long.
-
There's no need for threatening. I have not threatened casey (besides legal action), the male mouse of hers that I have in my possession, or anything for that matter, nor do I intend to. If my husband and I had the option of driving right back up there right now we would...but regardless of the money we already spent going up there once, we both work and have plans that we cannot reschedule this coming weekend....so driving up there is just feasable for us right now. IF casey agrees to give the doe to Elena I would trust elena to hold onto her and any offspring produced until I already have a trip planned up there for the weekend before July 4th and could do the trade then....or if casey or someone could bring the doe this way I would be happy to do the trade any time I or my husband is available. If casey gives the doe to elena I would be more than happy to give the buck to a third party of casey's choice should she desire.
-
casey, you make me sad. You also reinforce my reticence to trust people. Until a couple of days ago I would have told anyone you were a good guy. Now, you're firmly on the road of scumbaggery. Might want to take that next exit on Make it Right Blvd before you get stuck on Dumbass Road forever.

Skeevy. :( Taxidermy joke wasn't funny either.
-
Those animals will not be getting shipped to her (there are 2 in the shipment going to her, that were originally hers to begin with)...various mentions of her having an animal that doesn't belong to her have been deleted. The person organizing that shipment has also told casey that she does not want casey doing the transport or recieving the shipment at the airport until the "issue from the previous shipment is resolved" ...that issue being the animal she stole.
-
-
Good Lord. Given the wide spread dissemination of this issue, Casey ignores, makes excuses and jokes about killing the mouse? I'm completely exasperated at her behavior. She should have no reputation left in any field that requires sales to the public.
I thought she was still in Virginia and was willing to help, not Casey, but Stina. But, she isnt here any longer so there isnt much I can do. Casey has made excuses and refuses to stand up and do the right thing. Is there no shame left in this person?
I don't care if it is JUST a mouse. It is theft and the only reason she isn't going to jail is because of the dollar amount of the transaction and the authorities do not see the value of the mouse.
Casey, why would you do this to yourself? Are you going to keep your word and return the mouse? If you are, I urge you to do so quickly. You behavior is reprehensible and the only way to start to make this right is to do the right thing quickly. Time is running out.

Re: Beware of Casey Lauren Byiers (Rhasputin/EVLV/Eccentric Evolution)
The thing that gets me is that she has the nerve to delete comments, and ban members for bringing it up on the club forum she admins.
Why not just leave them there? That just seems like unprofessional behavior on the part of a club official, but why does it surprise me anyway?
By the way, I did have a account before but I lost the computer
and the information for it with it.
And you guys are awesome, you actually listened to what was being said instead of instantly shooting it down like other people did.
If she does cooperate I'm sure we could put a mouse train together.

I agree with this 100%. :gj:

Yes :) The majority of the people here have been great :) I know a lot of you couldn't give two [shakes] about rodents, but you see past that to the heart of the issue, and it is much appreciated.
-
Re: Beware of Casey Lauren Byiers (Rhasputin/EVLV/Eccentric Evolution)
You might be surprised. A lot of us DO love our rodents, even if we're just breeding them as feeders. We're just typically shunned by the "pet" rodent folks.

X2
And I really hope this works out for you stina, it is a ton of work to get mice from one coast to another, I can't imagine the work that got put into this shipment!
-
As snake keepers, I think its important to appreciate our feeders and treat them with respect. They may be 'just feeders' and are destined to die, but they are the reason our snakes live after all.
I enjoy breeding my rats. My breeder girls are very sweet and nice. I like to play with them in my spare time. They may not be pedigree fancy rats, but I still love them just as much as a fancy rat keeper would their own pets.

My ASFs aren't breeding age yet, but I adore them.
And my mice may be food/breeders, but I play with them all, give them treats, and love them

I know some of you care...I keep reptiles myself...including balls...notice I've been a member for years......I just rarely ever use the reptile forums anymore...lol I started in reptiles before I ever had rodents (besides hamsters as a kid...lol). I originally got mice to breed feeders (and b/c I liked them), but quickly came to really love them....and now I keep and breed both. Right now I have 2 balls, 3 atbs, an ornate flying snake, 2 russian tortoises, and a rankins dragon.
It is interesting being involved in both hobbies...a lot of reptile people shun rodent lovers and visa versa.
-
Re: Beware of Casey Lauren Byiers (Rhasputin/EVLV/Eccentric Evolution)
It seems as if breeding fancy mice is labor intensive, and going all out to import critters at great personal expense shows just how much thought and effort goes into breeding plans.
I guess I just wonder why Casey threw away her rep on taking a critter rather than making plans and maybe making arrangements to buy one or two of Stina's future baby mice. It would only have set back breeding plans, what, maybe 6 months or a year? (I'm guessing, I don't know)
It's just not worth it to take shortcuts and take what you want instead of work for it. Establishing a good rep takes years, and if you have a good rep, and work hard and are good to people, often they will help.
If you screw people in business, especially a business where everyone knows everyone, you end up screwing yourself. No one will forget this.

I read a little bit from the threads on other forums and I'm in total shock over how callous some people are being. Maybe it's JUST a mouse to them. And their snake is JUST a snake to someone else, but that doesn't mean someone can't have attachment to it, and the more important issue here, ownership of it. Whether it's a Ferrari, a notebook, a snake, or a mouse is not the issue. And just because "things like this happen all the time" doesn't mean the culprit should not be reprimanded and held responsible for their actions. Just because you've suffered from the dishonesty of others in the past and done nothing doesn't give you the right to shame someone who stands up for their rights and properties.
Even if it's a case with unfavorable legal standing, the ethics in this situation are plain and simple: The one knowingly in possession of someone else's property is at fault. Not the owner of that property, or the person who was deceived into giving it to the thief. Ethics are the reason for the BOI and "bad guy threads" because ethics have a very important role in business transactions of every type; a fact that unethical people enjoy neglecting. The role that ethics play in business is in fact often an entirely different one than strict legal interpretation can cover, and that is why it is necessary.

Okay good news. I talked to Casey tonight. She was really beating herself up. She has a lot of trouble dealing with stressful situations and with anxiety and she's horrible with conveying things in text.
She is very sorry for what happened and allowing it to continue on the thread without participating.
So I have the mouse, she gave her to me on her own will and she is very healthy and happy.
Thank you all for supporting Stina through this and I am grateful for a happy ending.
Thank you Casey for doing the right thing. :)

That's great news. I have read all of this and most of the other forums. Casey, thank you. stina, good luck with everything.

Good job casey. Make right some of the rest of the wrongs brought forward in the last couple of days, sometimes a sincere apology is all it takes to start.
-
I study and treat anxiety for a living. I also suffer from anxiety. Anxiety is never a valid excuse for theft, sorry.
We must be held accountable for our own actions, and while I am extremely glad the stolen mouse has finally been taken from Casey, as recently as TONIGHT she has banned people from her forum for expressing displeasure with her actions. And she has repeatedly deleted posts which named her theft and lies for what they were--theft and lies. Here is one screenshot of a post which she deleted multiple times:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...eScreenCap.jpg
It's a shame that she had to be cornered and called out to do the right thing in this instance, but I'm glad she's finally trying to do it. I hope the mouse gets to Christina ASAP.
-
Thank you for doing the right thing casey, hopefully the mice can be exchanged as soon as possible.
Thank you soooooooooooooooo much elena for caring for her for me and for the photos! You are my hero!
-
Wow, that "Laigala" on that site really laid down the law in that post. Nice, always great to see someone standing up for what's right, instead of looking the other way and saying "Well, you got screwed but I'm sure she'll feel bad about it one day".
That's good that a reliable person has your mouse and it's very pretty indeed.
Very good of Casey to return the mouse.
-
Re: Beware of Casey Lauren Byiers (Rhasputin/EVLV/Eccentric Evolution)
I have gained a lot of respect for both Elena and Maggie in the past few days.
-
So glad to hear this turned out well! I have been following this issue the last little while here. The kindness this forum has offered for "just" a mouse was the main reason I joined this site. I have 2 bp's too ;)

Stina, I'm sorry for the way I treated you when you were here.
I didn't intentionally steal the mouse, it was a mistake made at the source, and I should have handled it as soon as the problem was noticed.
-
I can't believe I just sat here and read 18 pages of this.
Though, I'm very happy that the mouse is finally getting back to you, Stina, after all of this hullaballo :)
Was this doe bred, or? I'm interested to know if that was the reason (or some of it, anyway) behind how dodgy Casey has been.
-
If the doe is pregnant she is not very far along in my opinion. I would assume longer than a week if so. She's not HUGE as far as I can tell.
-
Glad it was resolved. However, fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. The thundering, deafening silence and days on end of no kind of response or action to rectify the situation prior to the mobilization of the reptile forum and rodent forum masses speaks for itself. Maybe I'm harsh but theft is theft or at the very least conversion and a pattern of that type of behavior is just that, a pattern, indicative of larger issues at work than a simple "mistake" at the time of the animals arrival. Glad the mouse is being returned to the rightful owner and that all this was made public; quite the eye opener.

I've been following TMC as well - and Casey - your deletions of posts about this deal goes further to illustrate just how immoral and shady you really are.
But, then again - it IS your own little fairy tale land, so I guess you can do what you want, but you're doing a disservice to your membership. I hope enough of them were able to see the posts about your dealings and are learning that perhaps they might want to find another club, and certainly not to include you in mouse shipments that you have money for, BEFORE you take care of this issue.
"Hello - my name is Casey and Selfish and Dishonest are my middle names".

Obviously - I haven't read the rest of the thread yet - but I personally find Casey's third party apology pretty shallow. As far as "I" am concerned, the fact that she's not admitted any culpability in this entire thing, and ONLY returned the mouse when the heat was turned up, and the additional complaints about other bad dealings with her speaks far more to her character than feeling bad because of these threads.

He certainly had a way with words, didnt he :)
Im glad that elena has the mouse and stina will be getting it back soon. The fact that Casey still isnt taking any blame for it and saying it was a misunderstanding still boggles me. Has she really repeated the lie that many times over in her head that she actually believes it now?

Indeed.
Doing the right thing when a gun is pointed at your head? Shunned on all the forums and a threatened impeachment on one you founded?
That's not doing the right thing. Glad the OP got her mouse back, but as Robin said, all I see is a person who finally decided that keeping the mouse was severely cramping her online "status" and still refuses to admit any real fault.

Well, and what about all the other mice that she was trying to take that the other members of the shipment had to remove from her box? What about the other issues that she's had?
Is this a case of genuine remorse over a mistake she doesn't want to repeat? Or is it that she figured if she gave back one mouse to one complainant, that she can continue to do the group deal(s)?
Why wasn't the mouse returned when all the evidence showed it was not part of her order? If it was just a unintentional mistake, why the huge delay and refusing to return it in the first place?

:colbert: Far too much water has gone under the bridge and far too many details about your actions have come to light for you to try and pull this routine.
You show no contrition for your actions. What you are is terribly sorry you got caught, and so widely exposed. I see no remorse for the deed.

Re: Beware of Casey Lauren Byiers (Rhasputin/EVLV/Eccentric Evolution)
I had to laugh when I saw all the "mouse drama" unfolding. seamed kinda silly and pathetic, but it uncovers a sad truth about animal hobbyists in general. whether it be mice or reptiles. I have noticed that there are two types of collectors. Those who love the animals and see a work of art and those who love the animals and see $$. while selling the animals that you produce is a way of supporting your hobby and sharing your creations is a satisfying healthy part of it. Those who chase $$ first are ruining the reputation for everyone. Sounds like Rhasputin has chased her obsession with $$ into the poor house. hopefully she will learn from this and go back to loving the animals first. Stay a wide eyed child forever my friends!
-
Well, people think of it as "all this over a mouse?" but really, it's mentioned earlier in the thread that the mouse cost $50 to get it shipped in, but to replace it would be in the thousands, since another would have to be acquired overseas and shipped in.
Some of my friends' cars cost less than it would to ship in another mouse.
-
Just putting a quite note out there. I haven't posted yet in this thread, but I have read all 20 pages of it.
I'm posting this to put voice to those of us who do not post here, but read and remember. Casey, I am glad you have returned the mouse. However, your behavior speaks more than your words ever could at this point. Your reaction to people at your house, your blaming of the organizer, blaming of everyone else but yourself. YOU did not make the mistake, you said. Someone ELSE made the mistake, you said. No. It is your responsibility when it comes to any type of transaction. You are responsible for your reputation. Even if it was someone else's error (which, I believe, it was not), it is your responsibility to fix it.
Blaming someone else for an error isn't going to save your reputation. I may not be involved in the rodent side of things, but trust me, these forums have a very long memory, and have many friends on other forums.
So you may delete those threads that accuse you, you may have returned the mouse and assume everyone is just going to forget.... But.... People will remember, and it will affect your future transactions. Good luck with any future group order. I think it's safe to assume that you will be Black-listed from a lot of breeder's and importers lists at this point within the rodent community.
I am very glad to hear that that mouse is on her way to her rightful owner. It is a beautiful doe! I love that satin sheen. Gorgeous.
-
What a beautiful mouse! So glad she is out of Casey's hands, and on her way back to you. Her excuses and actions really are pathetic. It's a shame, she seemed usually to have helpful rodent info. But this is just plain bad, it never should have had to come to this. And deleting posts on the other website? Really? Not very grown up if you ask me. And she seemed to handle the anxiety fine when she made the taxidermy comment. How sad. Anyway, soooo glad your cute little mousey is on her way to you!

I'm hoping the mouse ends up back where she belongs.
However. Is the person she's with now not Casey's housemate? (According to the mouse forums threads, she is.) Why didn't this person step up sooner, not wait until all out war was on their doorsteps? Hasn't this been going on for better than a week now? She does co-run the club with Casey as well, from what I gather.
Someone's not sorry for what they did, they're sorry that they didn't get away with it.
-
Elena is NOT in ANY WAY to blame in this situation, Elena's boyfriend is the homeowner and they are the one's that welcomed us into the home, and elena's bf is the one that spoke to casey while we were there. They knew the mouse belonged to me as well as anyone....but just b/c they own the home doesn't mean they can go into a cage that belongs to casey and take something....regardless of who the animal inside belongs to. I am sure there are things that were done by Elena beyond what has been posted and I am extremely grateful to her. My mouse is now currently living in her locked bedroom.

This is exactly what I was thinking.... Having lived with one before and caught them stealing my things red-handed, it's something that you'll forever think about when you're around them or can't find an item of yours.
