Rat Bite Baby is my 7 year old male normal rescue that I adopted last year. A guy I know does reptile rehab, and he was telling me about this abused, neglected adult bp he rescued. Terrible shape... not eating, poor condition, dehydrated, RI, mouth rot, scale rot, retained eye caps from earlier sheds, and worst of all: a series of deep, infected rat bite wounds. One wound on his nose was so severe that the flesh was detached, and the nostril permanently occluded. But the snake had a calm temperament, even through all of the unpleasant injections and treatments. Every time I'd talk to the rehab guy (who doesn't name any of his snakes) I'd ask "How's that snake, the rat bite baby, doing?" And slowly over months, the snake recovered but the name stuck. And with plenty of scars and a prizefighter's nose, Rat Bite Baby came to live in his own RBI rack at my house.

BTW, special thanks to all the dedicated herpers who invest time, money, and effort to bring sick and neglected animals back from the brink and into good homes. Thank you for my snake.

    Let’s see.
1.0 Spider – we believed it to be a female until recently he proved otherwise – MJ after Spiderman’s girlfriend.
(If you think the other snakes will laugh I can change the name)

1.0 Lesser Platinum – he was like a hand full of precious metal – so he is Ingot.

0.1 Hypo – Whoopi Goldberg played Oda-Mae Brown in the movie Ghost – so she is Oda-Mae

I'm not going to list all the snakes names, that's a bit much at this point. Basically it goes this way....the ball pythons all carry either celtic or gaelic based names and the names are picked usually from something about the snake's looks, temperment, maybe how we aquired it, something like that. Examples would be:

Brannagh - means "dark beauty" - she is a lovely snake but had a very "dark" temperment when we got her

Cara - means "friend" - she was a snake gifted to me by a dear friend

and so on and so on...:)

The milksnake and the boas just tend to have names that come to mind or names they came with.

All of my snakes are named after someone/thing in a movie or game or something like that.

Matika - the name of Mimisiku's pet tarantula from Jungle 2 Jungle.
Chocobo - My pastel, named after a bright yellow bird from the Final Fantasy series.
Basilica - Necromonger warship from The Chronicles of Rid****.
Lara Croft - Tomb Raider. Need I say more?
Draccy - Shortened, more feminine name of "Draco", the name of the dragon from Dragon Heart. The snake was female, so...lol.

I am Buddhist and very fond of India. So I named our one and only adult male BP "Tanveer", which is a Buddhist name often used in India for males meaning 'Enlightened One':D

I also named our Dobie/Shepherd mix, "Shanti" because it is a Sanskrit name meaning "Peace or Angel of Peace". She is absolutely one of my bestest friends!

My hubby named "Jasmine" and "Johnny" came with his name:D
