Re: How often do you change the drinking water?
I drive my boyfriend insane with watering my snakes. They get fresh (purified) water every other day(sometimes everyday if I feel like it) and I scrub their water dishes 2 times a week. Before I bought purified drinking water from the store my snakes would rarely ever drink. I decided that $2.75 wasn't bad for 2.5 gallons of water so I got a huge jug with a spigot for them. So now I just take out their water and put it under the spigot and fill it up! No heavy lifting and no spills which is awesome! Nothing is worse than a stinky snake dish IMO. Would you want to drink out of a stinky water dish? HECK NO! So I have a scrubber and some disinfecting soap I use specifically for them. Snakes remind me of horses in the fact that they don't have to mess in their dish to make it smell really foul. When I started working at a stable the FIRST thing I knew i had to do right away was scrub their water buckets. If you have never smelled a horses stinky bucket you are very lucky. It smells HORRIBLE!! Like rotten eggs/ sulfur! Stinky snake dish doesn't smell like that but it does smell bad if you let it sit. So thats why I water them every other day and scrub dishes twice a week. <_< I do use reptisafe terrarium water conditioner sometimes but with the purified water it isn't really necessary.

I just noticed that after two days, my bp refuses to drink from the water bowl. So, I have to replace it every other day. Five minutes after I've put the new water in the tank, she's slurping away haha.

Lately I've been having to change everybody's water every day or two. Cu keeps knocking her bowl over (I need go get a heavier one), meaning I don't only have to refill the water but clean the entire enclosure. And I need to change Sangre's (Borneo blood) dish every day or two with really warm water to keep the humidity up.

Once a week for most of them. I have a few males who like to move their water bowls to the warm side of the tub. Whenever I find a water bowl pushed to the warm side I clean it, add fresh water, and put it back on the cool side. I don't agree with putting a water dish on the warm side to increase humidity (there are better ways). I make sure my snakes have fresh, cool water daily.

I feed every 4 days and while the snake is wrapped around the rat i clean out the water bowl. But the time im done its swallowing its dinner. Then i move on the to next tub and repeat. The water bowls get a soapy scrub down inside and out.

I typically just add water as needed during the week. Unless I notice they have messed in it or bedding is in it or what have you.
On the weekend I scrub the bowel and give fresh water.
