Your dinkers?

thats why they are dinker.
normal looking-ish.

yellowbellys, fires, are all semi normal looking.
there are many normal looking balls, but thats why they are dinkers

As do most of us with Dinkers. Dinkers are just a little extra fun on the side so to speak. I would probably never over run my collection with dinkers there are too many proven morphs that I have or want to work with. But if something catches my eye with an inexpensive "Normal" then why not get it and play around, you might end up with something crazy in the end.

And that's the beauty of it. They ARE normal until proven otherwise, and if they don't prove otherwise? It's no big deal because you started out with normals to begin with... It's like playing the lottery.

That's boring. I've got plenty of projects that I'm breeding with proven genetics and have produced some nice morphs. But to me it's more fun messing around with the unknown and trying to produce a look that nobody else has seen yet. A look that's all your own.

There's nothing wrong with doing it both ways, the least that can happen is that you'll produce some more normals and whats wrong with that?

I agree that normals can and do exhibit a tremendous degree of variance. We have a good many morphs in our collection now, but I still enjoy the diversity displayed by our normals.

I understand not everyone is interested in making the investment of time and energy necessary to work with an unproven animal, especially when the end result of years of effort may be that the animal is just a normal.

I am thankful there are some breeders willing to take a chance on some of these "normals", as there are several morphs we now enjoy that are the fruits of those efforts.

Here's a couple of pics of a proven morph that IMO looks more normal than many of the animals pictured in this thread. I wonder how many times Vin Russo heard "it's just a normal", when he started that project. Heck, he probably still hears it, 'cause you know, it really does look like a "normal".
