Twilight (the movie)

Saw the movie, didnt read the books. It wasnt that bad I guess but I didnt have the books story line in my head making me want to see certain parts that would never happen in the movie. I just got back from buying the book so here we go! Personally ( a little off topic) but some movies are so different from the books youd think they would have different names. The harry potter books are great but the movies( Other than the 1st,2nd, and maybe even the 6th sorta) were so offgear and they took out 60% of the book. To me that was a huge dissapointment, then again, how do you expect them to fit in 500 pages into not even 2 hours, most people cant even read the whole book that fast let alone say all the lines and do all the parts. But, i'll see in a few days how off the movie was from the books. Im sorta glad I watched first, because I liked the movie and the book should be so much better that I will enjoy it even more. There may be a few spots though im sure where i'll wish they have played or not changed.

Last thing, even though I liked it, did the actors not seem all that great? some of the side actors/friends were horrible imo.

The first Dumbledore guy died shortly after the second movie was made. I agree though, the first played the part just like imagined in the book. The different directors to me was a huge blow, the first and second movie had the good director where it was still close to the book and lighter. After that they just got way to dark in the scenery if you know what I mean.

To me, the Harry Potter movies just never quite captured the flavor of the books. Maybe because for time and money's sake they obviously couldn't fit every little detail and nuance from the books in...I dunno. I also had issues with some of the actor choices...I thought the guy they got to play Lupin was awful, and as Lupin is one of my favorite characters from the book I just couldn't get into him playing the role. But as I'm more of a book person than a movie person I will never be 100% satisfied with movie versions I don't suppose. At any rate they aren't nearly as bad as Queen of The Damned or Eragon. *shudder*

Your so right about that, the Eragon movie had to be one of the worse out there. NOTHING matched up to the book almost making it horrible...Right after my friend asked me what I thought of it when I watched it I replied " They took out the book!"

I know the feeling. I saw it also and came out of the theater feeling uncomfortable. For some reason I don't think that 50 year old men with gray beards were the prime demographic target for this movie.. It's a heartthrob movie for teenage girls that is pretending to be a vampire movie. I'm sure you'll be able to see a super tell all interview in tiger beat magazine though.

I'm with you on that one. I think that's the only movie I actually came away angry from. I love the Eragon books, and that movie had nothing to do with them! I was literally cussing it out. Brings to mind the South Park episode about Indiana Jones :rolleyes:

okay.. two things here.. bringing up an old post (I know, my bad) and second.. finally saw the movie and :omfg:... what a waste of my money!!!!

hubby saw it in the store and bought it because he knew I read and enjoyed the books. the movie was so chopped in the story line.. just felt awkward, no emotions could be felt except numbness.. is that an emotion?!. again.. why when I read a book I will not see the movie!!! the only exception to this golden rule was LOTR movies. they held up to the books very well and casting was excellent.

I shudder to thing how much of a fiasco the next movie will be. I will not see it.. as I do not want these images running through my mind ruining my own personal mind movie when I reread :reading: the books.

I read the books and watched the movie, and like both. I actually liked the movie better than the first book, because the movie seemed to be less melodramatic than the book. I am looking forward to the next movie.
