Re: What in the world happened here?! :O
.....That was just disturbing and disgusting!
Blackcrystal...I have to disagree. THAT extent of filth is not just lazyness or lack of time, it's a lack of caring for health! Of herself or others!
My father is a total slob, who would leave clothes all over the floor and dishes piled up on the table and counter. He was lazy and just didn't like picking things up or moving them, but he NEVER left trash laying around. And that bathroom!! No, that isn't laziness, that is a problem. Mental or not, that is a big problem.
And that poor cat...OMG. I am SO glad they finally went in there and found out, before her neighbors got sick or something.

Don't worry, I'm not saying it's always the same. Theres a different situation for each dirty house.
There could be a lot of story that we don't know. This person could have severe depression problems, and probably a mental disorder. That doesn't make them crazy, just unstable.. (I consider crazy more maniac psycho murderer type).
I know it! I was thinking about that poor cat too. Luckily it was probably able to hide in a softer area (as some of it seems to be clothes and drapes) for most of the time.
The difference with this house, is the main living area is filled with non-wet garbage (despite things in cups/containers/cat waste). Most of it seems to be stuff that you could step on and not step in a sludge of some sort.. except for the bathroom.
Blech.

hey! that looks like a college dorm room. I've seen them that bad though, seriously, mostly on guys floors (and yes I know not every guy is like that). I refused to safety check those rooms unless hazmat went in there first lol.
The fact an entire house is like that is disgusting. The bathroom made me want to gag lol That is by far the worst room!

It may have something to do with compulsive hoarding I wouldn't rule it out completly. I know a woman who has stacks and stacks and stacks of newspapers. Looks almost like that place except the filth.

OMG!!! I know the person who was handling this case. He didn't have to walk into the place but he has first communication to the one that did.

Just because your a very clean person, doesn't mean everyone else is.
My father is extremely bad about keeping his house clean. Not to that extent, but it's bad. He's not psychotic, just extremely busy and lazy. Some people 'wrongfully' find comfort in filth.
If anyone has ever watched animal cops/precinct shows, you will know that this is not nearly as bad as it could be. Imagine twice the amount of filth with cat and dog waste pasted on top. I've seen a house similar to this unfortunately. The worst part is the SMELL.
I think you have me confused for someone else. I'm not very clean or organized at all. And I'll stick to my story that this lady, and anyone who lives in such filth, either has a serious psychological disorder or is possibly a hardcore drug addict. Those pictures go far beyond hoarding stacks of newspapers or being messy. I know people who sound like your dad. Their house is disgusting, but I don't think it's caused by a mental disorder. They are just busy and lazy.
And like it or not, people who wrongfully find comfort in filth have a mental disorder. Being close with someone who fits the description of anything that carries a negative denotation, or even a negative connotation, sometimes makes us less than objective in our views and defenses. I'm not saying this includes you or your dad, but we see it a lot. We all know people with problems, but the bonding and sympathising of the person doesn't mean that the problems they have are no longer problems. Sorry for the off topic rant, but I've been seeing this more and more and it's always been something that bothers me. The sympathetic rationalizations bother me way more than most of the issues that are being defended.
