What would you rather have? Albino or Axanthic?

Axanthic all the way!

I dont have neither but I have a possible Axanthic male who is darn nice so I am gonna have to say Axanthic. Got him with a normal now again to see if anything comes of that. Nothing has so far.

I wouldn't mind a SK ax. Maybe a VPIax too..lol

Axanthic, easy. Albinos are fine for the visual "WOW" factor of people who know snakes, but honestly you can get a yellow snake any day. You can even get a white snake.

But a silver and black beauty who can create REALLY beautiful babies if crossed with a pastel, spider, bumblebee...

And think about how a pewter or silver bullet would look when crossed with an axanthic; it'd up the silver factor and keep it from "yellowing out" (especially silver bullets; gorgeous as babies but the older they get they look like they have fungus, from the pictures I've seen) and remain that beautiful baby silver.

And I sort of am disappointed with a lot of the albino crosses. I mean, sure, a pin albino or spider albino or pied albino looks cool, and a genetic stripe, but really most other color morphs don't mix well with it. Pattern morphs are good for crossing albinos with, but to me they are limited because of what they are. I can't tell a normal albino from a pastel albino, and cinnie albinos look kind of cool but again I just like the plain cinnie better. On the other hand, an axanthic looks good no matter what you cross it with!

I guess it's all preference! I didn't like axanthics until I got to see some in person and hold one while holding a het axanthic at the same time and WOW are they fantastic as babies!

Albinos are what got me interested in BPs and were my first purchases. I'm a big fan of bright bold colors in snakes, so axanthics don't really do it for me.

Hey, don't get me wrong - silver is my favorite color! If Axanthics stayed that beautiful silver and black they would be my top choice BP! But it's like the disappointment of a browned-out pastel...you wanted the snake to keep its colors but it didn't.
Albinos stay albino, and are gorgeous no matter how bright they might be. :)

The first morph I really fell in love with is the Axanthic. However, if I had to choose between an amazing albino and an average axanthic, I'd choose the albino.

But mayyybe that's because the local herp place has two gorgeous albino hatchlings right now... soooo pretty!
