Try to be thankful that your daughter is not as bad as she could be.

I had a horrible event with my daughter who had moved out a couple of years ago and after being very angry for a while I realized that I should be very thankful that I still have a daughter to worry about. She could have very easily have been taken from us as well. Thankfully she is OK now.
Not all parents are that lucky.

My prayers and thoughts are with you.

This is so true Raul. Anger will block all movement through the pain and grief and loss. It is a terrible place to be stuck. Trying hard to exploit the good times, the love, the appreciation for getting to share life together~ these are the blessings and must not be minimized.
It just hurts so badly when we can't protect our children and keep them safe...

    Oh,

I'm sorry you both had to go through something like this.:(

Best wishes for her quick and total recovery - and good job on the "mom" speech, I've had a few of those myself. :please:

If her car was totaled, then surely the other car has to have significant damage. Do you know if anyone got a description of the car?

Nate, at the time of the accident Kate didn't feel hurt so it would have been a no injury type of police report and those quite honestly often don't get a lot of attention in a busy police department. Because she is obviously hurt I did tell her yesterday to contact the officer that was on the scene of the accident and let him know her medical status. All she remembers is a flash of beige as the jerk pulled away (she was badly shaken and probably a bit shocky).

Hopefully there was someone either in another car or on the street that got the licence plate and this person can be held responsible for Kate's injury, her loss of time at her new job, the van being wrecked and her medical bills. It's so completely unfair that she is facing all this due to some else's bad driving habits and irresponsible behaviour.

Raul, you made a really good point there and I thank you. I am first and foremost so incredibly grateful that Kate is not hurt worse. A van can be replaced, my daughter never could be. Medical bills and her job (she's in the middle of an intensive training program to be able to get a major promotion) are worrying her but we'll help her deal with that as best we can.

Thank you all again for your posting in this thread and being so kind and caring to our family.

What a horrible thing. :( I hope that she recovers 100% and that this all goes over fast. I hope that someone comes forth with info on the degenerate who hit and ran. :( But on the upside I was thinking, it could've been alot worse, and at least it was not.. I send you all my best wishes and energies.
