Re: Calling all persons with body mods
1. Are you a male or a female?
Male
2. Which do you have? (Include all that apply) a- Tattoos b- Piercings c- Cosmetic Surgery
Tattoo's, Piercings, Does Gastric Bypass count as Cosmetic Surgery?
3. In your opinion, do more men or women undergo body modification? Remember, this includes cosmetic surgeries.
Women
4. For the men: Not including the cosmetic surgeries, do you believe that body modifications make women more attractive?
If it's done tastefully and the women is attractive to begin with
5. Women: Same question but regarding men.
6. In your opinion is it more socially acceptable for men or women to undergo body modification? Please give a brief explanation.
I don't think it's socially acceptable for either sex really. No matter your age or sex you will be looked at weirdly by others. Most people are just too naive.
7. In regards to tattoos and piercings, are certain placements or designs considered taboo for one sex or another? For example, should women avoid getting tattoos on their upper arms because it is considered “manly”? If you answer yes, please explain briefly.
Personally I don't think a man should have an ankle tattoo but thats pretty much it :D
8. What were your reasons for getting your body modification(s)? For example, were they sexual in nature, purely for your own amusement, for shock value, etc.
My piercing was done for uhh sexual reasons, my tats are because I dig the pain and beeing different :P

Re: Calling all persons with body mods
1. Are you a male or a female? male
2. Which do you have? (Include all that apply) a- Tattoos and b- Piercings
3. In your opinion, do more men or women undergo body modification? this is a trick question if you count ears then women (almost every lil girl has em done) if not then men but this is quickly getting to be equal
4. For the men: Not including the cosmetic surgeries, do you believe that body modifications make women more attractive? it comes down to what the art is alot more than how much. lower back tatts almost always sexy, but if its the right art a full sleeve is just as but wrong art and they look like trash
5. Women: Same question but regarding men.
6. In your opinion is it more socially acceptable for men or women to undergo body modification? if its just how i feel then i say its your body have fun. but i think the rest of the world mostly gives men a lil more freedom when it comes to tatts altho alot think that only thugs, bikers, and criminals have em. and when it comes to cosmetic its more acceptable for women altho alot are called bad names i cant use here
7. In regards to tattoos and piercings, are certain placements or designs considered taboo for one sex or another? women can pull off tatts in places that men cant lower back, ankle
8. What were your reasons for getting your body modification(s)? i got mine cuz it was what i wanted dont have a p/c answer there

Re: Calling all persons with body mods
Just wanted to come back and say a few things...
I do have my Septum done. In my questionnaire I mentioned tribes. Now please don't think I got this done to "scare or look different" to others. It all have to do with meanings...I happen to love the meaning.
Wanted to clear that up...if anyone was wondering.
Oh last year I did a research paper on the history/Today on Tattoos/Piercings/Scarification so if you have any questions concerning that just send me a PM. I would love to help.

Re: Calling all persons with body mods
1. Are you a male or a female?
Female
2. Which do you have? (Include all that apply) a- Tattoos b- Piercings c- Cosmetic Surgery
A: Eye of Horus on ankle, Dragon on ankle, Cat on ankle, equal sign on back. Plans for a few more.
B: I have had my eyebrow pierced twice but had to remove it due to infections coming and going. Ears pierced twice, Cartilidge(sp) done. I've had my belly button pierced but it got ripped out.
3. In your opinion, do more men or women undergo body modification? Remember, this includes cosmetic surgeries.
If you include cosmetic surgery, then women.
4. For the men: Not including the cosmetic surgeries, do you believe that body modifications make women more attractive?
I'm going to answer this one even though I'm a girl. It really depends on the woman. Most women that I find attractive do have a piercing or tattoo, but then again, there was a woman who I overheard talking about getting a bunch of piercings and I tried imagining these piercings on her and I must say, she wouldn't have looked attractive to me.
5. Women: Same question but regarding men.
With men, tattoos make them more attractive in my eyes but piercings not so much. I like piercings but they do not do much for me as far as making someone more attractive. I guess its all about the tats.
6. In your opinion is it more socially acceptable for men or women to undergo body modification? Please give a brief explanation.
Its more acceptable for women to get plastic surgery in the eyes of society because the woman is undergoing surgery to make herself more beautiful, at least to society's standards of a woman. Its more acceptable for men to get tats because it is a "manly" thing for most and a sign of "toughness" to endure the pain of a tat.
7. In regards to tattoos and piercings, are certain placements or designs considered taboo for one sex or another? For example, should women avoid getting tattoos on their upper arms because it is considered “manly”? If you answer yes, please explain briefly.
I do not think placement or designs are gender based. While I see more sleeves on men than I do women I wouldn't say its taboo for a woman to get tats on her arms. I am toying with the idea of tats on my arms.
8. What were your reasons for getting your body modification(s)? For example, were they sexual in nature, purely for your own amusement, for shock value, etc.
Piercings and tats are more for personal enjoyment and to mark events in my life or meaningful subjects. They are never for shock value or making myself seem cooler. Most people who meet me don't even know I have tats because they are all in places I can hide them (back, leg, ect)

Re: Calling all persons with body mods
1. Are you a male or a female?
Male
2. Which do you have? (Include all that apply) a- Tattoos b- Piercings c- Cosmetic Surgery
A) 2, neck and back,
B) 28 (not wearing them all at current), 12 are facial. 3 are chest... the rest are.... lower.
C) Yes... nothing this hot could be natural!
3. In your opinion, do more men or women undergo body modification? Remember, this includes cosmetic surgeries.
I think it depends on how we define it. To me shaving your body, and plucking your eyebrows, and dyeing your hair is body mod. I think women engaged in more low level body bods, while men go through more extreme. Tatts, piercings, etc. But if one factors in C-surgery than I am not sure you can even begin to compare them.
4. For the men: Not including the cosmetic surgeries, do you believe that body modifications make women more attractive?
I like body mods and am predisposed to appreciating them. But with anything, it depends on the individual and how they wear them. I think anytime a person claims ownership to their body that is a strong and sexy move.
5. Women: Same question but regarding men.
6. In your opinion is it more socially acceptable for men or women to undergo body modification? Please give a brief explanation.
Where I live and the people that I know, there really is no difference. I know alot of women now that are tatted and pierced, and depending on where they work it is not a problem. I think it becomes an issue, for either sex/gender when they are in positions where their emotions are instruments of labour, and as an aside their bodies become socially contested political sites for others. The premise for some jobs is that "it will offend others"... screw that... get a different job.
7. In regards to tattoos and piercings, are certain placements or designs considered taboo for one sex or another? For example, should women avoid getting tattoos on their upper arms because it is considered “manly”? If you answer yes, please explain briefly.
I do not think so. I think that is not a relevant concern anymore, but mostly for women. But I do think men are more limited and some tatts are still considered gender specific. Lower back for males, unless it is part of a full/larger back piece, can be frowned on... and personally I think a belly button ring on a guy just looks silly.
8. What were your reasons for getting your body modification(s)? For example, were they sexual in nature, purely for your own amusement, for shock value, etc.
Anything below my neck was sexual... but I also have gotten tatts and piercings for purely aeasthetic reasons. Did not give much thought to the larger picture as I didn't really care, nor did having them limit me particularly. For me, B-Mod is personal. I do not consider others in the process. Even my partner... I have never asked, I have said... "oh by the way I am getting Piercing A next week".

1. Are you a male or a female?
F
2. Which do you have? (Include all that apply) a- Tattoos b- Piercings c- Cosmetic Surgery
d- Brandings (scarification done by burning) and b- piercings
3. In your opinion, do more men or women undergo body modification? Remember, this includes cosmetic surgeries.
women, if you include breast augmentation etc.
4. For the men: Not including the cosmetic surgeries, do you believe that body modifications make women more attractive?
I'm not a man, but I'm bi, and i do not find mods to make girls especially more attractive or less. (okay sometimes less if it's badly done or just ugly lol)
5. Women: Same question but regarding men.
same as for question 4
6. In your opinion is it more socially acceptable for men or women to undergo body modification? Please give a brief explanation.
I don't believe there is any division between the sexes. Maybe that's my own idealist naivete speaking.
7. In regards to tattoos and piercings, are certain placements or designs considered taboo for one sex or another? For example, should women avoid getting tattoos on their upper arms because it is considered “manly”? If you answer yes, please explain briefly.
i believe these things are all about personal choices, and that there isn't (or shouldn't be) a template for placement based on gender.
8. What were your reasons for getting your body modification(s)? For example, were they sexual in nature, purely for your own amusement, for shock value, etc.
All of mine mean something significant to me. Each one was symbolic as a tribute to myself or to an idea i held strongly.

3 tattoos and pierced ears. Plan on more tattoos. :)

No idea. Probably about even, maybe more guys.
4. For the men: Not including the cosmetic surgeries, do you believe that body modifications make women more attractive?
5. Women: Same question but regarding men.
Erm, gonna assume you're including lesbians under "for the men" then? I don't think a woman (or a guy for that matter) needs body mods to be beautiful, but I do find body mods to be attractive. Well, some body mods. ;P
6. In your opinion is it more socially acceptable for men or women to undergo body modification? Please give a brief explanation.
I don't think it's particularly gender related, at least not that I've noticed. I think the whole socially acceptable aspect has to do with misunderstandings about body art in general.
7. In regards to tattoos and piercings, are certain placements or designs considered taboo for one sex or another? For example, should women avoid getting tattoos on their upper arms because it is considered “manly”? If you answer yes, please explain briefly.
I don't think so personally, although I don't think I've ever seen a guy get a tattoo right above the tailbone where it's popular for women to.
8. What were your reasons for getting your body modification(s)? For example, were they sexual in nature, purely for your own amusement, for shock value, etc.
A lot of reasons, mostly artistic and spiritual in nature. I wouldn't get a tattoo for anybody but myself, and I don't particularly care what others think of them. They're messages to myself for myself. :) For example, the tattoo on my wrist looks uncentered and upside down for other people, but it looks centered and upside right from the angle I always see it at. Because it's a reminder to me, not anyone else.
I like tattoos as an expression of something beautiful within and expressing it on the outside. I'm also intrigued by the studies at https://www.hado.net/ regarding symbols and music effecting how water forms, and by putting positive symbols on the skin perhaps also influencing the body since we're made so much of water.

Ok, there are 8 questions, one or two maybe slightly more invasive than I'd originally hoped. Feel free to leave them blank if you must, but I think you'll find they aren't anything bad. Please remember that I am including cosmetic surgery in this since it is a form of body modification. All questions include this aspect unless otherwise noted.
you can just post your answers here or PM me. If you'd like to e-mail them to me, let me know and I'll get my e-mail address to you.
Thanks again.

I may think of more questions as I go on, so look for this thread to pop up again later. Also, if there is anyone who is actually IN the industry who would be willing to speak with me, (I have a different set of questions) that would be amazing.
#1 MALE
#2 Tattoos & Peircings
#3 Women
#4 Depends on what I like or you like. Some tatts look good on some more than others and same with piercings. It varies from pwerson to person and what they had done.
#6 I would say both. Women have always had their ears pierced and that was accepted along time ago and the guys had the tattoos way back when. But now a days it doesnt matter who gets what and how much or little.
#7 I think women could get them anywhere except the front of the or sides of the neck. that is more a guy thing. Kinda like the "Tramp stamp" lower back on a woman. No guy would want that.
#8 Did it because I wanted it and like how it made others look. My designs are only for me though
Hope this helped
