I was thinking about going back to work, but Shaun and I figured out with the cost of daycare, we would actually be losing money if I went back to work during daytime hours.
So once they do go to school, I will probably work part time.
I find that even with my kids in school, I seem to be home even less. We tossed around the idea of me going back to work, but someone still needs to be home over the summers and holidays, not to mention when the kids get sick. I have thought about going about the paperwork to become a substitute teacher though.

Re: your darned day job..
I love my job...there is a fierce singing joy that glows in my soul when we are packed full and I'm flying from patient to patient, on top of my game...drawing blood single-handed, setting IVs, prepping surgeries...the sense of accomplishment, of mastering complicated skills in demanding situations, of being in top form....it's unbeatable.
On the other hand, there are the lousy clients...the latest one is a dog's-mother who snapped at me not to tug her dachshund's leash "because you know he has a history of back problems" then dang near refused to weigh the dog (part of every check in) and told me to shut up and leave her alone about his weight. The dog is grossly obese...hobbles, wheezes, waddles rather than walks...owner insisted that he's on the diet food we recommended, but when pressed she explained that the diet food is one teaspoon twice a day, stirred into his regular maintenance diet. How dare she snap at me for pulling on his harness when she's actively feeding him to death and refuses to correct the problem? I feel so sorry for the dog...his quality of life is poor, as he is barely mobile. If I ran the practice, she's a client that I would seriously think about firing. I don't know why she even still comes in as she disregards all our medical recommendations and is chronicly rude to the staff.
I love my job...I could just do without some of the clients.

Re: your darned day job..
I like my job well enough. Plenty of drama though which I could do without. I'm only there until '09 when we move back to Indiana so I can put up with darn near anything. Not to mention the management position looks good on a resume.
But please do not get me started on problem customers. I could fill a book. Heck, between us all we could probably crank out three or four volumes of Vile Customers. :)

Re: your darned day job..
I just entered a new field under 6 months ago and it's the most enjoyable job I've had so far. There are always days that someone has something stuck up their anus, but I'm doing pretty well not letting my co-workers' or bosses' problems become my own.

Work for Caterpillar Logistics UK. Tipping trailers, booking goods in and out all day long. Pays reasonable but very little job satisfaction. Its always good to get home to the wife, kid, crazy dog and shiny friends

Re: your darned day job..
Work in the Government section as a Human Resources Specialist. I sit in a cubbyhole 8 hours out of the day, 6 are used to get to and from work, 5 to sleep and the rest of the hours are spent taking care of snakes, rats, gerbils and pets *I live for weekends!*
I love my job. I love my job, I love my job. (they pay me to say that).
