    You are quite right. I'm sure the quality and health on many of the lower priced animals is very good. However a bargain basement price DOES indicate an inexperienced seller who may not be there for you if a problem should arise.

    Perhaps, but a high price tag doesn't indicate an experienced seller who will, either. Reputation counts for something too. It's always riskier to buy from an 'unknown' than from someone with good references. On the other hand, there's no way for a person to get a good reputation if no one buys from unknowns.

    To me, the difference between paying 1500 and 500 for a snake (all else being equal) is the extra thousand I might be screwed out of if they don't do good business.
