Re: Today's Youth
Let's try to remember we are the grownups here so comments like I've seen in this thread are pretty much as childish as it comes. These are young children that are obviously not being minded properly by the adult in charge of them. Kids don't automatically know what is right and wrong in life, that's up to the grownups to teach them so focus that anger where it belongs...on their parents.
Write a letter to their parents, calmly and clearly stating what is happening, send a copy to whoever is appropriate to do so on a military base. Deal with this adult to adult in a calm, adult manner and you might get the results you want. Freaking out never helps when it comes to neighbourhood issues especially when they involve someone's children.
"Today's Youth" do not have problems as far as I'm concerned, today's parents just aren't doing our jobs as well as we should or can. As a neighbour and an adult you might want to try to gently educate these kids and make friends with them, they are unlikely to do damage to your property if they like you and understand what you expect of them as regards your yard.

Re: Today's Youth
I know this is a problem with the parents and I have tryed to deal with thisin a calm manner multiable times. wrighting letters dosent work .. they have been "returned to sender" ro place back in my mail box with "Stay out of my Koolaid" written on the envalope! I have taken this to the post comander, and to GMH it's self. the only thing i have heard bak is that the family is under investigation for child neglect. Like i stated in my very first post. This is more for venting. Actions speak louder than words and i would never hurt or harm a child. I stoped with the air gun stuff and it was never spoken twards the kids. I stated they are for Range targets only. I dont even keep them in the house. they are locked up in the Command Arms room. I was venting, nothing more nothing less.
Yes they pulled my chain hard with the snake killing but I did nothing about it. The parent refuses to teach her children right and wrong. It is not there fult. but Venting is just that, venting. I have the right to free speach and expression and I felt I keept my posts with in he guide lines of this site. if I didn't I'm sorry and let me know where I went wrong.
Yeah I'm mad at the kids for distroying my property, and i feel I have every right. the ones who did the miss deeds are old enough to know right and wrong, the younger ones... the parents are to blame for neglect.
I have tryed to deal with this in the best possable ways. nothing is working so I'm moving. As for the being mentaly unstable twards children? I stayed home because I would have been yelling things at the parent that no child should hear. so i sent my husband over to talk. at least this parent was willing to take responcability for his childs actions... I wish i could say the same for the other kids parents.

Re: Today's Youth
Sounds like a horrible situation.:(
Dealing with the parents is probably the only recourse. I doubt anything can legally be done apart from accusing them of willfull child neglect by failing to provide an adequate child environment.
It's easy to make statements about what should be done to solve these things (your hubby beating the bejesus out of their dad daily till he talks to them etc) but to be honest they never solve thigns and frequently result in the victim ending up far worse off than the transgressor.:( :taz:
I hope it gets better for you soon.
Can you perhaps buy a viscious dog and kennel it in the back yard?

Re: Today's Youth
Well, you need to be very careful when it comes to threatening. WHen mommy hears "Neighbor lady said she's gonna cut our throats in our sleep!" she might call the po-po. I don't think I have any room to talk, if I had seen them kill the snake, I probably would have lost my cool and gotten violent. :fork:
Tell the mother/father/she-wolf or whatever the hell is taking care of these little snot nosed brats and threaten to call child services on her. Just remember that you cannot make ANY physical contact with the kids without the risk of this coming back on you if the police do get involved.
Here's another idea: get a reason to sue. Put something breakable and nto meaningful to you in your yard. If they break it, you could take pics, get a list together of damage caused and do a small-claims!

Re: Today's Youth
Around here, we would call child protective services.. not sure how it works on bases.

Re: Today's Youth
CPS is already involved in the case of the kids behind me. as for the dog lol ... it would be stolen by the local gang here on post and used for fights... BTW 5 teens were arrested for dog fighting this morning, one of the dogs was killed and 2 were stolen dogs.
The guy next to me had a pitt puppy. he placed in in the back yard and went to pick up his kids from school. he came back to the dogs play pen being empty, food bowl gone and toys gone. they still havent found the puppy.

i thought of another idea....buy those fake 5 dollar video cameras for security....hang them on your house and right on papers :you are bieng watched" or "smile...you are on camera".

Re: Today's Youth
Print out bills for every single thing those kids have done, and take them to the parents, and tell them that you will get the parent's pay docked to repay it if necessary.
Anything they leave on your property, break it, and throw it into THEIR yard, preferably in the driveway so the dad or mom has to move it to get in and out. Likewise, any trash that they put in your yard, put it back into their yard, and into the driveway.
