Ok need some advice here if you folks aren't all off watching the game :P

I have to send in a general app to this company required by all applicants. I would like to include a follow up/thank you letter with it but I'm having a hard time with who to direct it towards. The interview involved the HR manager, VP of finance, and the IT manager. The HR guy was in the shortest amount of time and left after a nice explanation of what the company does and is all about, the VP and IT manager where there through the main interview with VP leaving at a "break" when the IT manager went to look for another person in IT just to come in and talk. That person was never found but the IT manager and I did continue going over things a bit longer.

I want to direct the letter to the IT manager as he would be my boss but it would be a score if the VP was aware that I had followed up also...having the HR guy know also would be helpful....gah! In a way I guess I need to reach/thank all of them!?

I would thank all three of them with a letter, that is for sure.

I think I got it down how I like it. The letter is addressed to the IT manager and the first main paragraph is geared towards him as well selling myself...but its not a long paragraph. The second paragraph is thanking the other two guys by title and name as well as stating specific topics or discussion I found enjoyable or helpful.

I just decided that since I currently work in the same city I will deliver the letter and application by hand. I don't now why I was thinking I would have my wife send it out when I can easily make the run during lunch!

So its Friday and I have heard nothing from the company. I already knew it but I called a few minutes ago to confirm. "We just finalized with another candidate but thank you blah blah blah..."

I'm trying not to be down...it won't ruin my weekend, but man would it have the job I was looking for and not to mention opened the door financially for some things my wife and I would like to do...new house.

Young people: no matter how talented you are, even if your using your talents in a job already...DO NOT ride it out. GO TO COLLEGE! I started working on computers in high school and then started college but never finished. Here I am nearly 10yrs later, yes I have that 10yrs of experience but no degree. I have no doubt I could be in a much better position if I had a degree stacked up with my work experience. Maybe this is the wake up call I needed...

    Sorry to hear man!

I know the frustration - neither of my degrees is in the field I find myself employed in - and those I got I got as a "non-traditional student" later in life than I would have liked.

You just need to craft the next youtube/myspace/google and cash in!
